World Cup 2018 Group Stage Betting
The biggest event in world football is almost upon us and the World Cup Finals in Russia are within touching distance now. Fans, players and staff are making their final preparations ahead of the opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia on 14th June and that means that we can start devising our best bets for the group stage.
Coral are offering a number of specials on this World Cup, and in this article I will be taking a look at a couple of the Group Stage Specials they currently have on offer.
Lowest Scoring Group
An interesting market to bet on could well be the lowest scoring group market. Coral have priced Group H up as the most likely to be the lowest scoring group. This group contains Poland, Senegal, Colombia and Japan, but I don’t think this will be the lowest scoring group.
Colombia have the quality to score plenty of goals in that group and with Robert Lewandowski and Sadio Mane also involved in the group, there could definitely be goals. I think that Group A, featuring hosts Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay could well be the lowest scoring group.
Mohamed Salah is likely to miss at least the first game and I can’t see Saudi Arabia scoring many goals, so the 5/1 on offer here looks like a solid bet. This is always a tough market to call, and the odds available reflect that, but Group A looks like a solid bet to me.
To Win Each Group Game
Another intriguing market is betting on a side to win each of their group stage matches. Coral are currently only offering this market for Brazil, France and Germany and although the odds aren’t amazing on them, there is still money to be made here. Brazil are the favourites to go through the group stage with a perfect record and when you look at the teams they are coming up against (Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia) then you can see why.
The same can be said for France who are playing Australia, Peru and Denmark and also Germany who are coming up against Mexico, Sweden and South Korea. I actually think that Brazil have the toughest ask of the three teams, and this solid Swiss side could well cause them problems in the opening group game.
If Brazil do manage to come through that fixture, they should stroll it though. It is a shame that you cannot place these three teams in a triple bet, as I’m pretty confident in all of them winning their matches in the group stage, but if I was pushed to choose just one, I would back France here.
