What next for Luke Shaw?
In what has been an inconsistent season for Manchester United and their manager Jose Mourinho, there has been one consistent line coming from the club – that their £30 million left-back Luke Shaw was not up to the physical standards required to be playing for the Red Devils consistently.
The 22 year old has failed to kick on in Salford, following his world-record transfer fee ever paid for a teenager back in 2014 and it looks as if perhaps his stay with United over (currently 4/7 with Ladbrokes to leave this summer). With his best years sure to be ahead of him, will Shaw end up?
London Calling?
Shaw’s plight in recent seasons could have deterred some potential suitors but Mauricio Pochettino was the man who gave Shaw his first team opportunity when in charge at Southampton. As a result, it seems logical that Tottenham (Pochettino’s current employers) would be interested in Shaw – who fits the age profile at a club that is excellent at promoting young English talent. Tottenham are 3/1 with Betway to sign Luke Shaw this summer.
Staying in the North West?
It’s no secret that Shaw hasn’t settled too well in the North West since his big money move but things could have been so different had it not been for an unfortunate leg break Shaw picked up against PSV Eindhoven back in 2015. Should he decide to stay up North, Everton look to be a realistic destination for the England international. With Leighton Baines seemingly coming towards the end of his stay at Goodison, Shaw could provide the perfect antidote for the Toffees faithful. Shaw is 4/1 with Ladbrokes to join Everton this summer.
European Interest
Shaw was one of the hottest properties in world football when he joined Manchester United 4 years ago and despite only managing 43 league appearances in 4 seasons, he is still regarded as one of the best left-backs on the continent. Barcelona have emerged as a surprise front runner in the European market at 15/2 with Coral whilst a complete change of scenery and move to any German,French, Spanish or Italian club are all priced at 12/1 with Bet Victor.
Luke Shaw has had a difficult 4 year period at Old Trafford, particularly under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho and he will be hoping to move on and kick start his career once more this summer.
