Tuesdays Top Tips: How Young Guns Can Fire Us to a Four-Fold Goal Success
The EFL Trophy has already seen some of the Premier League’s U21s teams suffer heavy defeats this season, with Leicester City and Manchester United’s Academy sides losing 7-1 and 8-1 to Wigan and Bolton respectively in the last round of ties. However, some of the other U21s teams have performed well, with Spurs’ kids putting five past Colchester United and Liverpool’s youngsters winning 3-0 against Morecambe. The latter will face Blackpool, who should provide a sterner test than the Shrimps, with the Reds priced at a huge 13/2.
The young guns of Arsenal are the only Academy side that catches the eye, as they travel to Exeter City. The Grecians were thumped 9-0 by Reading in the competition in September and have lost four in a row in the league. However, they did knock a much-changed Luton Town side out of the Carabao Cup. Arsenal, who are 3/4 to win, are expected to cause the League One side some problems and get on the scoresheet.
With 83 goals scored in 23 games so far in the competition, averaging 3.61 goals per game, there are usually goals guaranteed in games featuring the U21 sides. A little four-fold featuring the game at Exeter, Aston Villa’s kids’ trip to Charlton, the aforementioned Blackpool v Liverpool U21s, and goals at Reading v Swindon is expected to yield high returns.
