With Simona Halep sitting pretty at the top of the WTA rankings, points are on the agenda in the race to catch the Romanian world number 1 and in the quest to participate in the upcoming WTA Tour Finals event in Singapore. There is a strong field assembled in Hong Kong with Venus Williams, Elina Svitolina and Caroline Wozniacki headlining the field which has attracted 3 of the world’s top 10 players..
Here are some our tips for the title in Shanghai:
Elina Svitolina – 1/8 (Bet 365) – The Ukrainian has impressed throughout the 2017 season without quite managing to get over the line at a Grand Slam. Her ranking of world number 4 has been acquired by her 5 tour level titles this term as she has established herself as one of the biggest names in women’s tennis.
Venus Williams – 1/8 (Ladbrokes) – At the age of 37, Venus Williams continues to be one of the largest draws in women’s tennis and is revered throughout the game. Her all action game style and power is the envy of many on the tour and having reached 2 grand slam finals already this year, she’s tough to bet against here.
Caroline Wozniacki – 1/7 (Sky Bet) – The Danish superstar has had her most consistent year on the WTA Tour and has reached 6 finals this season, picking up her only tournament crown in Tokyo last month. Her ranking of world number 6 is another reflection of her good form and if that continues here she’ll be heading off to Singapore with a spring in her step.
Agnieszka Radwanska – 1/50 (Bet Victor) – The 28 year old has had a disappointing season, dropping out of the world’s top 10 and failing to win a title as yet this term. The Pole’s all round game is a match for anyone on her day however and how she’d dearly enjoy a return to form here.
Here are some of our outside tips in Hong Kong:
Daria Gavrilova – 1/6 (Ladbrokes) – The Aussie finds herself in the top 25 and has won at this level this season (Toronto in August).
Elena Vesnina – 1/3 (Paddy Power) – The experienced Russian has enjoyed this season, picking up the title in Indian Wells and impressing on hard courts particularly.
Timea Babos – 6/4 (Betfair) – The Hungarian has been in fine fettle this season, reaching the final of her last 2 events and winning on home soil in Budapest earlier in the season.
Top Outright Bet: Elina Svitolina to win the title- 4/1 (Bet 365).
Each Way Bet: Timea Babos to reach the final (E/W pays 2 places – 33/1 with Betfair)
