No matter how hard they try, the Spurs simply cannot get over the .500 mark this season. The win over Washington got them to 6-6, but they are once again in a hole after back-to-back defeats to the Lakers and Mavericks. Normally we would recommend backing the OKC Thunder in this game without much hesitation, but taking injuries into consideration the Spurs might actually have a chance here. Chet Holmgren being out gives a lot of freedom to Victor Wembanyama who no longer has to spend a ton of energy guarding his counterpart on the other end. Alex Caruso is also missing for the Thunder, he is an important wing defender in their rotation, so that’s another factor working the Spurs favor here. Oklahoma City also played a grueling game last night at home to the Mavericks, losing 121-119 in the end. Backing a team playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back scenario is never a good idea, especially if they are 6.5 point favorites like the Thunder are here.
