Premier League Coming’s and Going’s
Clubs have until the 3rd February to complete any transfer deals and we are waiting for any major developments in the Premier League.
Chelsea have already made their move with the loan signing of Gonzalo Higuain. The Juventus man left his loan deal at AC Milan to play at Stamford Bridge and will be interesting to see what sort impact the Argentine striker can have on the Premier League for the remainder of the season.
Chelsea Return for Ake?
Interestingly, despite having David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger as first choice defenders plus Andreas Christensen and the emerging talent of Ethan Ampadu as back-up options, Chelsea have been linked with a move for a central defender.
The player they have been linked with has already been inside the home dressing room at Stamford Bridge having spent five years at the club between 2012 and 2017. His name is Nathan Ake and the Dutch defender left Chelsea for Bournemouth on a permanent deal in 2017. It took at a club record fee of £20 million to tempt Chelsea to part with the centre-back and it appears they want to bring him back to the club.
Ake has been in fine form for Bournemouth this season but they have recently signed the promising Chris Mepham from Brentford and this suggests they knew a potential move for Ake could be on the cards.
Chelsea could be forced to part with at least £40 million to get the Dutch international back on their books and BetVictor offer 2/1 that Ake will be wearing a Chelsea shirt come the end of the winter transfer window.
Manchester United Keeping Tabs
However, they could face competition from elsewhere in the Premier League. Manchester United have long been trying to sign a central defender and BetVictor have the Red Devils at 6/1 to sign Ake in January. Whether Ake fits the bill in terms of experience is another matter and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may decide to stick with that he has got for the time being.
Gueye to PSG
One player who could be about to leave the Premier League is Idrissa Gueye. The Everton central midfielder has been in good form for Everton and enjoyed some of the best games of his career since moving from Aston Villa.
However, his performances as a holding midfield player have caught the attention of some of the top European clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain being one of them. With Adrien Rabiot intent on leaving the club and Marco Verratti injured, PSG need someone to come in and sure up the midfield ahead of their Champions League tie with Manchester United.
It is believed PSG have made an bid of £21.5 million for the player but Everton are likely to turn it down. SkyBet offer just 1/2 for Gueye to leave Everton for PSG and it appears the French giants will return with a better offer to get their man before the end of the transfer window.
