Portland Trail Blazers vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Current situation
Right now Portland is enjoying one of the best, if not the best, stretches of basketball they’ve played all year long. After Friday’s win at Charlotte they’ve won 4 games in a row, setting a new high for the season. Their play on the defensive end is the primary reason for this successful run. They’ve held their last 2 opponents under 100 points, while their last 4 are averaging less than 100 points per game.
Oklahoma City remains the top team in the Western Conference, despite the surprising loss to Dallas a couple of nights ago. It’s all about getting healthy for the Thunder at this point. They have proven they have a good enough team to compete with the best of them, but getting back Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein and Cason Wallace will propel them even further in the race for the NBA Championship.
Portland Trail Blazers Stats & Form
Anfernee Simons had 27, Jerami Grant added 22 as the Blazers beat Charlotte in their latest win on Friday. It wasn’t the most impressive offensive performances this year, but Portland got it done on the other end, keeping the Hornets to just 37% shooting from the field and just 29% from three. LaMelo Ball not playing made life easier for the Blazers a bit, but if you’re Portland you’re not too worried about that. The team is enjoying its longest run of wins this year, they have nothing to lose entering Sunday’s game vs Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
Dallas had that exact mindset entering their game against Oklahoma City on Thursday and they upset the odds by beating OKC 121-115. The Thunder’s signature defense was nowhere to be found, which was a bit surprising as the Mavericks were without Luka Doncic and several other important players. SGA and Jalen Williams each went over 30 points, but other than them the Thunder didn’t get much help from their role players.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Head-to-Head
It’s been a one-sided street over the past 14 meetings between the Thunder and Blazers, with OKC winning all 14 of them. They’ve swept every single regular season series since the 2021-22 campaign, increasing their lead in head-to-head meetings to 137-120 all-time. The last time Portland won a game vs the Thunder was way back in 2021.
Portland Trail Blazers – Oklahoma City Thunder Odds
The Blazers are massive underdogs here, because of that you can get odds of 11/4 for a home win. If you like the Thunder to win, you can back them at 2/9 odds.
The point total has been set at 232.5 points, with odds of 10/11 supporting either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Portland Trail Blazers vs Oklahoma City Thunder (26.01.2025)
Whenever a team wins 4 games in a row it’s worth a lot of praise and the Blazers are no exception. However, the four opponents they’ve faced during this win streak casts a slight shadow over the success they’ve had. The Hornets were without LaMelo Ball, Orlando has been injury riddled all year long, Miami is going through the Jimmy Butler situation and Chicago is a below average team. Facing the Thunder will be a much bigger test for Portland and we’re just not sure they have it in them to keep this game somewhat close. Oklahoma City suffered a surprising home loss to Dallas, that might be a much needed wake-up call for a team that’s been cruising for pretty much a month now. The Thunder have won both meetings earlier this season, controlling the game on both ends and winning by double-digits each time. MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will have his way with the inexperienced Blazers backcourt here, don’t be surprised if he goes for 40+ points to further boost his MVP case. OKC has the edge in most statistical categories here, but one in particular stands out. They are 18th in three-point accuracy, which isn’t high for an elite team like theirs, but Portland is even worse at 28th knocking down just 33.7% of attempts. The 4-game win streak was fun to watch, but Oklahoma City will prove to be a difficult obstacle to overcome here. We’re backing the Thunder.
