Portland Trail Blazers vs Milwaukee Bucks: Current situation
Portland is stuck pretty much in no-mans land as they cannot go either up nor down in the West standings. At 17-29 they are 13th in the Conference, which gives them a solid shot at landing one of the top 3 picks in the upcoming NBA Draft. And that’s all that matters for this team right now. They are building for the future and trying to develop their younger players for years to come. We just saw them knock down 18 threes in the loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday, the highest amount over their last 10 games played.
Unlike the Blazers, Milwaukee is trying to win now and after a slow start to the season things have stabilized quite a bit. Head coach Doc Rivers’ job is no longer in danger, after wining the NBA Cup the Bucks have improved all the way up to 4th place in the East. They are also in solid form despite the loss to the Clippers on Sunday, over their last 10 games they’ve won 8 of them. However, there’s still work to do as Milwaukee has a losing record in road games this year at 9-11.
Portland Trail Blazers Stats & Form
In what was a valid effort, the Portland Trail Blazers lost 118-108 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night. The loss ended a 4-game win streak for them and now they’ll look to start a new one against the Bucks. Deni Avdija, Scoot Henderson and Toumani Camara each went over 20 points, but defensively they just couldn’t contain Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who had 35 and 5 rebounds.
Milwaukee Bucks Stats & Form
Milwaukee’s latest game saw them lose in Los Angeles against the Clippers, dropping them to just 8-11 SU in road games this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard did their part with 36 and 29 points, but James Harden was just too much on the night with 40 points and 9 assists. Lillard even had a triple-double in the loss, but he was an inefficient 1-for-9 from three.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Milwaukee Bucks: Head-to-Head
The first meeting saw just 207 points total in early January, with the Blazers coming out on top 105-102. It was only their 3rd win in 10 meetings, the Bucks are outscoring them by 10.8 points per game in the last 10 games head-to-head. Milwaukee has had more success in general, we would have to go back to the 2013-14 NBA season to find a year in which the Blazers swept the regular season series.

Betting tip and prediction: Portland Trail Blazers vs Milwaukee Bucks (28.01.2025)
Damian Lillard returns to the arena where he spent the first decade or so of his career. Oddly enough he hasn’t had the best of games in the 3 meetings against his former team so far, however we are not willing to bet against the three-point assassin here. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been on a roll lately, he’s averaging 29 points and 13 rebounds over his last 10 games while shooting better than 60% from the field. Portland is likely to struggle trying to guard him, most of their roster consists of younger player who don’t have the experience to contain such an established player. The one thing Portland will try to rely on here is their three-point defense which has improved a lot lately. Their last 3 opponents have shot just 29.1% from distance, but overall on the season they still remain only 24th in the NBA in this category. Meanwhile, the Bucks are only 2nd to the Cleveland Cavaliers in three-point accuracy this year at 39% makes per game. Those type of numbers are championship worthy, so it’ll be interesting to see if Portland can do anything to slow down Giannis and co. here. If the Bucks take this game seriously they should have no problems covering the spread here, so let’s back Milwaukee on the road.
