Phoenix Suns vs Houston Rockets: Current situation
With by far the hardest remaining schedule out of all 30 teams in the NBA, the odds aren’t looking good in the Suns’ favor in these last 9 games of the regular season. They now trail the 10th seeded Dallas Mavericks by 1 game, with games remaining against the likes of OKC, Boston, New York, Golden State and Milwaukee.
The Rockets are in a comfortable position at the moment with a 1.5 game edge on the Denver Nuggets in 2nd place of the Western Conference. They’ve won 9 of 10 games which makes them one of the more in-form teams in the league. However, things can rapidly change in the Western Conference as the 2nd and 5th seed are within 3 or so games.
Phoenix Suns Stats & Form
Friday night saw the Phoenix Suns get demolished by the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-109 as they got swept by Anthony Edwards and his team. Kevin Durant had a sub-par scoring night with just 23 points, the Suns managed to lose a game where they shot 52% from the field and over 48% from three. Turnovers were a problem as they committed 16 of them, plus they also lost the rebounding battle 43 to 34.
Houston Rockets Stats & Form
Houston celebrated a massive 121-110 win over Utah in their last game as Alperen Sengun went off with 33 points and 10 rebounds. He got a lot of help from his teammates with 6 of them scoring in double figures. That’s just how the Rockets have played all year long – they like to spread the wealth evenly on offense, so it’s no surprise they are the 2nd best team in the West at 48-26 SU.
Phoenix Suns vs Houston Rockets: Head-to-Head
Houston won the first 2 meetings this season at home without any issues, beating the Suns by 8 and 7 points respectively. That means that the win streak is up to 3 in a row going back to last season, they are now within just 4 games in the all-time win total between these two teams. Sunday’s game will be the 233rd regular season meeting all time.

Betting tip and prediction: Phoenix Suns vs Houston Rockets (30.03.2025)
Talent wise these two teams look a lot similar, at least on paper. However, when it comes to their performances on the court the Rockets are just a better team overall. We intentionally highlighted the word team here. Phoenix has looked more like a bunch of talented individuals thrown together on the same roster, it is hard to win games when there is very little cohesion between teammates. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are doing their part, the numbers look very solid from an individual standpoint, but this team has a losing record for a reason. Houston is a lot better in areas like rebounding, ball sharing and three-point shooting and defending. The Suns allow the 22nd highest percentage of threes this season, opponents are shooting 36.4% against them from downtown. That number is up to 40.8% over their last 3 games, so look for the likes of Amen Thompson, Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green to take advantage here. Houston also has the more consistent bench production, plus they are 10th best in the NBA when it comes to guarding the perimeter with opponents knocking down 35.4% of shots against them. All the pressure is on Phoenix here and with Bradley Beal seemingly missing yet another game, we just feel like they don’t have enough offense to keep up with the Rockets in this game. Because of this we recommend backing the road team to cover the spread.
