LeBron’s return from injury is certainly good news for the Lakers, however in his first game back the King had plus/minus number of -27 which was the worst on his team. It might take a couple of games for him to return to his pre-injury form, Luka Doncic netted 34 points including 8 threes in the 31 point loss to the Bulls. What is concerning for the Lakers is the fact that their biggest lead in that game was just 4 points. They allowed a staggering 74 points inside the paint as well.

With James being back in the line-up we will now see the Lakers favored in more games than not, that’s just the effect he has on his team. We did not like what we saw in their first game with him back against the Bulls on Saturday – the Lakers got absolutely annihilated on the inside allowing 74 paint points in that loss. There was also no effort on the defensive end as Chicago scored 30 fast break points, compared to just 12 by the Lakers. Turnovers also killed LA as they committed 21 of them, all of those things will have to be fixed if the team in purple and gold want a result at Orlando here. The young and upcoming Magic are slowly turning things around, reminding us all that they were a top 3 team in the East for the majority of the first two months of the season before all the injuries hit. Paolo Banchero is on a heater right now averaging 30 points per game in his last 10 outings, it’ll be up to him and Franz Wagner to do the heavy lifting here. Wagner had 37 in the upset win against the Lakers back in November, however it is hard to take anything from that game as the Lakers still had Anthony Davis on the roster which is no longer the case. This time around we feel like the Magic will cause the Lakers a lot more problems, with a massive void left in the middle of the floor after the departure of AD. LA will struggle to contain Banchero, they are thin when it comes to defending opposing wings this season. All in all we are expecting the Magic to get the job done here, so let’s back them to cover.
