Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics: Current situation
The defensive minded Orlando Magic have had a somewhat disappointing season, but mainly due to injuries. Both Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero missed extended periods due to an oblique injury, that’s the main reason why this team finished the year 41-41. Jalen Suggs is also an important member of this team, he has been out for the season for a while now and it’s showing.
Unlike Orlando, the Celtics aren’t too worried with injuries as they are one of the deepest teams in the league. Jayson Tatum opted not to play in Game 2 after falling awkwardly on his hand in the series opener. The good news is there is no significant damage done, but Tatum didn’t feel good enough to play on Wednesday. Despite his absence though the Celtics came out on top to go up 2-0.
Orlando Magic Stats & Form
Game 2 was a snooze fest from the perspective of the Magic. Their biggest lead in the game was just by 1 point early. They failed to take advantage of Tatum’s absence, shooting the ball once again poorly from three (7-for-29) and also getting outrebounded 46-34. Paolo Banchero did put up 32 and Franz Wagner added 25, but those two alone cannot carry this team against the defending champions.
Boston Celtics Stats & Form
Jaylen Brown showed us why exactly he won the Finals MVP award last year, going for 36 points and 10 rebounds in Game 2 to fill the void left behind Tatum. He also got a lot of help from his teammates, with 4 of them scoring in double figures. Kristaps Porzingis had a 20 and 10 game, despite suffering a head injury that required stiches.
Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics: Head-to-Head
After Wednesday’s win the Celtics are now up 2-0 in the series, it was their 3rd win in 5 meetings if we count the regular season against Orlando. They’ve dominated this match-up for a while now, winning 14 of the last 20 meetings. It is worth noting though, the Celtics have lost 4 consecutive games in Orlando, including both games played there this season.
Orlando Magic – Boston Celtics Odds
Backing the Magic to win their first game in this series gets you odds of 15/8. If you feel like the Celtics will go up 3-0 here, odds of 4/9 are available for a road win.
The point total has been set at 198.5 points, with odds of 10/11 supporting either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics (25.04.2025)
Game 3 is all about character for the Orlando Magic who are looking to avoid going down 3-0. No team ever in the NBA has gotten back from that deficit and with the way this series has unfolded, the Magic wouldn’t be able to either. Playing at home will certainly be a boost for them, they were 22-19 SU in 41 games at Kia Center during the regular season. That number is a bit misleading though as they were without Banchero and Wagner for a decent chunk of the regular season. They beat Boston in both meetings played in Orlando, stretching their run to 4 consecutive wins over them in home games. The tempo of play needs to go up a bit though, Orlando just isn’t able to cope with the Celtics defense while playing in the half court. Jayson Tatum’s status will also be relevant here, he will have a total of 4 days of rest in between games since suffering his hand injury so there is a chance he might return here. But even if he doesn’t the Celtics should have very little issues. The likes of Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis or even Payton Pritchard are all more than capable of putting up points to make up for his potential absence. As the road underdog the Celtics have covered the spread in 19 of 37 games this season, we believe they are just the better team here and this series could be headed towards a sweep. Back Boston to win and cover on Friday.
