Oklahoma City Thunder vs Sacramento Kings: Current situation
Oklahoma City has struggled a bit over their last 3 games, winning just one of them. It’s not often you get to see this team struggling, they’ve been consistent for the most part over the first 3 months of the season. Shai-Gilgeous Alexander had yet another 50+ point explosion in his last game, increasing his odds of winning the MVP award. With Nikola Jokic and his Nuggets losing 3 in a row, the MVP award is SGA’s to lose at this point.
Sacramento has cooled off a bit following their majestic start under new head coach Doug Christie. They have now lost 3 of their last 4 games, with their defense struggling to keep up. One worrying factor is the status of De’Aaron Fox who is clearly distracted by the recent trade rumors connecting him with a possible move to San Antonio. The Kings point guard has indicated he wouldn’t mind a change of scenery, hearing that from your star player isn’t beneficial to the team’s morale.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
Only 2 other OKC players scored in double-figures other than SGA in their most recent loss to Golden State a couple of days ago. SGA went for 52 points on 16-for-29 from the field and 18-for-21 from the charity stripe. The Thunder also wasted a monster night by Isaiah Hartenstein who had 18 rebounds, including 6 on the offensive end. Shooting just 9-for-39 from three was also problematic, other than Jalen Williams, SGA and Isaiah Joe nobody else could hit anything from the perimeter.
Sacramento Kings Stats & Form
Tyrese Maxey was just too much to handle for the Kings in their latest defeat at Philadelphia 117-104. The loss particularly stings because of the fact that Sacramento was a 8.5 point favorite heading into the game against the shorthanded 76ers. The defense just wasn’t there as they allowed Philly to shoot over 52% from the field and 41% from three. Sacramento is now just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games and 1-4 SU in their last 5 on the road.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Sacramento Kings: Head-to-Head
The Kings and Thunder have met at total of 253 times in the regular season all-time, Oklahoma City leads with 152 wins to Sacramento’s 101 wins. In more recent meetings the Thunder have won the last 3, however Sacramento did have a run of 8 straight wins before that, winning 3 of the last 4 regular season series. From a bettors perspective backing the Kings has yielded profit in 11 of their last 16 visits to OKC.

Betting tip and prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Sacramento Kings (01.02.2025)
Just a game after scoring 52 points against the Warriors, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Thunder are hoping to turn around a run of 2 defeats in 3 games. OKC has lost back-to-back games only once this season, so the run that they are on now is one of the worst that they’ve been all year long. That just shows the level of dominance they’ve displayed this regular season. There’s good news on the injury front with Alex Caruso potentially coming back from injury, they could definitely use his defense on the likes of De’Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan here. OKC ran away with a 130-109 win over Sacramento earlier this season, the Kings were held to just 25% shooting from three in that game. It could be déjà-vu on Saturday as the Thunder lead the NBA in three-point defense this year, allowing opponents to shoot just 32.9% from downtown. The trade rumors surrounding Fox aren’t helping either, the veteran point-guard has had issues scoring the ball with his average falling from 29.3 points in November to just 20.8 in January. That’s a clear indicator that he isn’t fitting in well with the system of new head coach Doug Christie, so don’t be surprised if Fox is moved before the trade deadline. With just 1 win in 5 road games the Kings will have issues keeping up here, let’s back Oklahoma City to cover.
