Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies: Current situation
So far the young Oklahoma City Thunder are dealing with high expectations just fine. After finishing the regular season with the best record in the NBA at 68-14, Oklahoma City was ruled as the number one favorite entering the postseason. Despite all that though they still have a lot of doubters, mainly due to their lack of experience playing in big games. They are only 2nd to the Memphis Grizzlies out of the 8 teams in the West as far as total playoff games played as a team.
The rollercoaster of a season that it’s been for Memphis continued in the playoffs. One night they’ll beat the best team out there, but on the next one they’ll look nothing like that team. Having an interim head coach in the postseason isn’t ideal, especially when he’s never had any other NBA head coaching experience. Tuomas Iisalo didn’t know how to respond when his team went down big in Game 1 and it resulted in a 51-point demolition.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
Oklahoma City dominated Sunday’s game right from the get go. The lead was up to 32 points at half time which signaled that head coach Mark Daigneault could play his reserves the rest of the way. Shai Gilgeous Alexander actually played his worst game of the year, at least statistically, but the team won big regardless of that.
Memphis Grizzlies Stats & Form
There’s not much we could say positive about the Memphis Grizzlies after that abysmal Game 1 performance. The only bright spot was Marvin Bagley III who came off the bench and went 8-for-8 from the field, scoring 17 points. But he too was shut down after the first 24 minutes of play as the Grizzlies were pretty much out of this game.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies: Head-to-Head
After sweeping the regular season with an average margin of victory being double-digits, the Thunder continued their impressive run by beating Memphis by 51 points in the series opener. They’ve now won 9 games in a row vs this opponent, dating back to the 2022-23 season. Only two of those wins were by less than 10 points.

Betting tip and prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies (22.04.2025)
From what we saw in the series opener, this match-up could very well end up in a sweep for the Oklahoma City Thunder. No matter what they did on Sunday, they couldn’t do wrong. At one point the lead ballooned to 56 points, OKC ended up outrebounding the Grizz by 9, while on the fastbreak they finished with 27 points to just 5 of Memphis. The Grizzlies need a completely new approach for Game 2, but we are wondering is this team capable of doing something like that considering they have a rookie head coach in charge? Oklahoma City successfully responded to every single switch the Grizz made in Game 1, they also dominated from the three-point line with 17 threes compared to Memphis knocking down just 6 of them. To make matters worse Ja Morant caught an elbow early in the game which is never good. One thing Memphis has to do in Game 2 is to limit their turnovers. They ended the game with 24 of them, you won’t win many games in the NBA even against lesser opponents when something like that happens. Unless a monumental collapse happens here in the Oklahoma City ranks they should be winning this series in 4 games. The spread has remained the same for Game 2, until the series shifts to Memphis we are not even going to consider the Grizzlies here. Back SGA and co. to cover in Game 2 as well.
