Oklahoma City Thunder vs Houston Rockets: Current situation
What the OKC Thunder have been doing over the first 2 months of this regular season is nothing short of remarkable. Chet Holmgren has been out for a month now, while 4 other players find themselves also on the injury report at the moment. This only adds to the MVP case of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Thunder have a 19-5 record and are 10-2 in home games at the moment. His 30.2 points and 6.3 assists per game carry additional weight when we consider just how many injuries this team has faced so far.
Houston has been one of the healthier teams in the NBA this season which explains why they are 17-8 on the year and currently 2nd in the Western Conference. Winning the Emirates NBA Cup would do wonders for the confidence of this young team, not a lot of people had them advancing to the Finals prior to the game against Golden State. But with them getting that monkey off their back, anything is possible now.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
OKC thoroughly dominated their Emirates NBA Cup quarter-finals match-up by beating the Mavericks 118-104. The game was never really in doubt as they led by as many as points. Interestingly enough they launched 50 threes in that game and made 20, something we don’t normally see from this team. SGA exploded for 39 points, including 5 threes. He will once again be the focal point of the offense for OKC here.
Houston Rockets Stats & Form
Houston entered their game against Golden State on a 15-game losing streak in head-to-head meetings, but they somehow pulled out one of the biggest wins in recent memory. Alperen Sengun had 26 points and 11 rebounds, the defense is what go the Rockets the win as they held Stephen Curry to just 19 points, forcing the Warriors to go to other players. Houston is now 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games and has won 12 of their last 16 overall.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Houston Rockets: Head-to-Head
Both teams won their home games in the 2 meetings between these two teams this season, so this game being played on neutral ground only adds to the intrigue. Neither team has had consistency in this match-up, the last 2 regular season series were split between them. OKC does hold a slight edge in the all-time regular season win total with 122 to 118.
Oklahoma City Thunder – Houston Rockets Odds
Going for a Thunder win here gets you 2/5 odds, while for a Rockets triumph you get 11/5 odds.
The point total has been set at 213.5 points, with odds of 10/11 supporting either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Houston Rockets (14.12.2024)
Neither team has a lot of experience playing in big games, however the Thunder did reach the Western Conference semi-finals last season which gives them a slight edge over this Houston Rockets core which hasn’t had any major success just yet. OKC is on a roll right now, having won 4 games in a row. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the leader for MVP honors this season, if his team goes on to lift the Cup he will undoubtedly be the MVP of this tournament as well. The Rockets biggest strength this season is their defense, but in 2 meetings against the Thunder they allowed 126 and 116 points this season. Alperen Sengun has been the brain of this team, similar to what Nikola Jokic is for the Nuggets, just on a smaller scale. Having Isaiah Hartenstein down low should limit his production, Oklahoma City allows the fewest points inside the paint this season at just 41.7 points per game. Meanwhile, the Rockets have really struggled in this area allowing 50.7 per game, which is good news if you’re a OKC fan as they like to rely on their inside scoring to win games. All in all, the edge goes to Oklahoma City here as they have way more experience and are more talented on paper. However, the spread is a tad too big for our liking, so the smarter bet would be Houston to cover the spread.
