That loss to Oklahoma City in the first meeting of the season a week ago was very deflating for the Knicks who followed it up with 2 more defeats to Chicago and Orlando, despite being favored in both of those games. However, they were able to stop the bleeding with a home win over Toronto on Wednesday, improving their record to 25-13 on the season. They are pretty much safe in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with the Magic being 3 games behind them and the Celtics 2.5 games ahead in 2nd.
OKC is no longer the owner of the longest win streak in the NBA as they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Despite the loss though they still hold a commanding lead atop of the Western Conference, with the 2nd placed Houston Rockets being 6 games. For OKC, the most important thing is to get healthy as soon as possible, so all eyes are on Chet Holmgren as we await his return from a hip injury suffered over a month ago.

Despite the win streak coming to an end, Oklahoma City remains the favorite heading into MSG against the Knicks. One of the reasons is the fact that they’ve won in their last 6 visits to the World’s most famous arena, so the Knicks face an uphill battle here. There is no doubt that the crowd will wild on Friday night as New York looks to even the regular season series. They’ve done a solid job in home games this season, winning 12 of 17. Only two other teams have a better offensive efficiency when it comes to playing in front of their home crowd, on top of that the Knicks also rank 10th in defensive rating in those games. One thing the Knicks will have to do here is to stop SGA, if they want to get the win. Last time he played at MSG he finished with only 19 points, so perhaps the Knicks have figured him out? Both Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson are in fine form scoring the basketball, a lack of three-point accuracy was the only reason why the Knicks lost that first meeting of the season vs OKC.
