Milwaukee Bucks vs Atlanta Hawks: Current situation
The redemption tour of the Milwaukee Bucks has reached Las Vegas and this team has no plans on stopping. Last year they were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers at this stage of the tournament, in what was one of the bigger upsets. This time around the Bucks are in fine form having won 9 of 11 games and their two best players are putting up numbers on a consistent basis. There is a clear shift in focus on defense ever since that 2-8 start to the season, it will be interesting to see if the Bucks can maintain their level of discipline in this game.
Atlanta has also improved quite a lot lately winning 7 of 8 games, pulling off the upset in their most recent game against the Knicks after trailing by 8 points at half-time. Trae Young is the leader of this team, he leads the NBA in assists per game averaging 12.2 a night. However, it’s not just him that’s been great for Atlanta this year. The emergence of players like Jalen Johnson, De’Andre Hunter and Dyson Daniel has given Hawks fans confidence that their future is bright. Atlanta currently has 8 players averaging double-digit points.
Milwaukee Bucks Stats & Form
Milwaukee overcame 32 points by Jalen Suggs in the Emirates NBA Cup quarter-finals, as they beat the Orlando Magic 114-109. Giannis Antetokounmpo was once again his usual self with 37 points and 7 rebounds, while Damian Lillard took over late and finished with 28 and 9 assists. Bobby Portis also contributed heavily off the bench, he has now scored 50 points over his last 2 games while missing just 3 shots from the field. As favorites the Bucks are 12-6 in 18 games played this season.
Atlanta Hawks Stats & Form
Atlanta goes into this game as an underdog, but they won’t mind it as they’ve won 7 of 12 games in this scenario. They were down by as many as 12 points against New York in their quarter-finals match-up, but with 5 players total scoring in double-figures and Trae Young dishing out 11 assists they were able to turn things around. De’Andre Hunter’s play was a particular highlight as he finished with 24 points of the bench.

Betting tip and prediction: Milwaukee Bucks vs Atlanta Hawks (14.12.2024)
Atlanta beat the Bucks fairly easily 119-104 at the start of December, but all of that goes out the window as the two teams meet up in Vegas on Saturday. Since that loss the Bucks are 2-1, winning against Brooklyn and Orlando. The combination of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard has once again proven to be lethal, plus Khris Middleton is slowly working his way back into shape after double ankle surgery. Milwaukee’s three-point defense deserves a lot of praise – they’ve held opponents to just 33.9% shooting over their last 3 games, stopping the Hawk’s perimeter offense would do wonders for Milwaukee here. Although Trae Young led the Hawks to a upset 108-100 win at MSG over New York, his shooting has been sub-par this season and in moments like this the way he shoots could very well determine the outcome of this game. Jalen Johnson has been Atlanta’s most consistent scorer since mid-November, but he is only 22 years old and has never been in big games like this. With the Hawks seemingly struggling from three point land (9 threes scored in 3 of their last 4 games), we feel like the Bucks have the necessary experience as well as defense to win this game and book a place in the Emirates NBA Cup Final.
