With 4 wins in their last 6 games the Grizzlies have somewhat recovered from two disappointing losses against the Houston Rockets, the team they are chasing in the Western Conference standings. Julius Randle has not made the impact they hoped for when they traded away Karl-Anthony Towns for him, however we cannot blame just one player for this season’s under achievements.

They play a very distinct style where they outrun their opponents on offense, while also trying to get timely stops down the stretch. Their defense on Victor Wembanyama in the last 2 games vs San Antonio was perfect, they’ll look to replicate that in the game against Minnesota on Monday. In the last meeting against the T’Wolves they were able to hold Anthony Edwards to just 15 points.

After a huge win at Madison Square Garden, the Timberwolves once again found a way to let everyone down with a 124-117 home loss to Cleveland. There were some positives to take away from that loss, but Cleveland is just too strong for Minnesota right now. The loss now means that Minnesota has a worse record in home games than they have when playing on the road.

Betting tip and prediction: Memphis Grizzlies vs Minnesota Timberwolves (20.01.2025)
The first meeting was one of the more entertaining regular season games of the season, we can only hope that Monday’s game is just as good. On paper the Grizzlies are favorites for a reason, but we wouldn’t write off the Timberwolves so easily here. In the first meeting a week ago we didn’t see much defense, especially in the painted area where the two teams combined to score 106 points between them. What gave Memphis the edge was their activity on the offensive glass where they grabbed 21 rebounds, compared to just 7 by the Timberwolves. As a result the Grizzlies attempted 25 more field goals and despite shooting 12% worse they pulled out the win. Adjustments will be made by Minnesota, there’s no question about that, we still have a lot of trust in this team even if they are just 2 games over the .500 mark. The ball moved really well for them in the first meeting, they ended the game with 35 assists. This will be a high scoring game, if Anthony Edwards catches fire from three-point land then the Grizzlies are in trouble. So far in January he’s averaging 5 threes made per game on over 47% efficiency, something tells us he will want to make amends after scoring just 15 points against this team a week ago. We’re backing a Timberwolves upset here.
