Los Angeles Lakers vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Current situation
Losing to the Phoenix Suns by 27 points was not a good look for the Lakers who now have a 2-1 record and a -16 point differential in Group B. So the math is pretty simple, a win here and a Suns loss to San Antonio would give them 1st place in the group. However, this team has been in a funk for a while now losing 3 games in a row. Their last 2 losses were by a combined 52 points to the Suns and Nuggets.
Oklahoma City also needs a win here, but unlike the Lakers they’ve only played 2 games so far and are 1-1 with a game against the lowly Utah Jazz left. Not only that, the Thunder are starting to hit their stride with center Isaiah Hartenstein coming back from injury and making an instant impact. He’s already had two double-doubles since returning and the Thunder no longer have a rebounding problem which has plagued them this entire season.
Los Angeles Lakers Stats & Form
It all comes down to Anthony Davis here, if he plays well then the Lakers will have a chance to win. That hasn’t been the case in their last 2 games with AD not reaching his averages in the losses to Denver and Phoenix. Something is definitely off with the Lakers, the team that started the season 10-4 is nowhere to be found and if this continues tension might arise sooner rather than later.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
Oklahoma City is headed in a completely different direction with back-to-back wins over Portland and Sacramento. Getting healthy is a priority for this team, but even without a couple of really important players like Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso they are still a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. They are also one of the most reliable teams to bet on this season with a 5-2 ATS record in road games.

Betting tip and prediction: Los Angeles Lakers vs Oklahoma City Thunder (29.11.2024)
The Lakers are finally starting to show their true colors. They had one of the softest schedules in the first 10 or so games of the season, with the majority of them being played at home. They’ve now lost 3 games in a row and we are closer than ever this season seeing head coach JJ Redick hit the panic button. The play of LeBron James doesn’t get mentioned enough these days, although he is posting solid numbers the team just isn’t winning when he is on the court. His plus/minus stats are one of the worst in the NBA, which is a good indicator of a lack of defensive presence when he’s out there on the floor. That is very understandable for a player that will turn 40 in less than a month, the Lakers would be wise to consider cutting his minutes and using them on someone more effective on that end of the floor. Oklahoma City is in good spirits going into this game, they are the top team in the Western Conference and getting healthier by the day. Aside from Anthony Davis, they have the 3 best players in this match-up. With them covering the spread 7 times in their last 9 road games, we feel like the Thunder are a really solid bet here.
