LA Clippers vs Los Angeles Lakers: Current situation
Unlike their bigger brother, the Clippers have had a relatively quiet season so far in terms of glamour. This is a hard working team, making the most out of what’s available on a nightly basis. Going the other way is Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a pick, the trade sent shockwaves around the league as it came out of nowhere. This puts the Lakers in a difficult spot at the time being as they now really need a big to solidify their interior. The pairing of Doncic and James will be an interesting one, but don’t be shocked if LA makes additional moves in the coming days.

Losing to the 16-32 Toronto Raptors is never a good look, especially for a team of the Clippers caliber. Kawhi Leonard returned to Toronto and had just 14 points in limited minutes against his former team, while James Harden led the way with 25. Despite the loss though, the Clippers are 8-4 SU in their last 12 games, while at home they’ve covered in 9 of their last 10 outings.

LeBron and co. upset the odds big time with a 128-112 win over the New York Knicks on Saturday. LeBron James commanded the game from start to finish, recording yet another impressive triple double with 33 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. It’s pretty remarkable what the King is doing at this stage of his career, showing no signs of slowing down even at the age of 40.

This will be the 2nd meeting of the season at the Intuit Dome between the two teams, the Clippers came out on top 116-102 in the first one. Luka Doncic will likely not make his debut here for the Lakers, everyone is interested to see how the team in purple and gold will look like without Anthony Davis. If the Saturday’s win at New York is any indicator, the Lakers will try to push the tempo here. That’s the style in which they flourish the most, in their last 2 wins they’ve scored 134 and 128 points. Will that work against one of the more dominant defensive teams in the NBA? It’s hard to say. The Clippers held the Lakers to just 102 points in the first meeting, coming back home after a frustrating loss in Canada will do them well. James Harden has been on a roll for quite some time now, the All-Star will have his way with the Lakers defense here as they simply are not equipped to handle a player like him. On the interior Ivica Zubac will have a field day scoring the ball as there is no shot blocking threat by Anthony Davis anymore. Although the Lakers have done a solid job at defending the three-ball over their last 3 games, they are still only 18th in road games when it comes to opponent three-point percentage this season. Norman Powell will be the x-factor in this game, he is having a breakout year averaging more than 20 points per game.
