Both of these sides were promoted from the Championship last season. They made promising starts to their first ever seasons in the Premier League, but life has become a little bit more difficult in recent weeks. Huddersfield Town have had some good home form and will be hoping for three points against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Huddersfield Town got off to a great start with seven points from their first three Premier League games. No one thought that was going to last but as the weeks have gone by, they have started to slip down the table. The last 12 games have only produced eight points and they are down to 16th in the table only five points above the bottom three.
It’s their away form that is causing them the most problems with no goals scored since that opening day 3-0 win at Crystal Palace back in August. The last six on the road have produced a single point and 18 goals scored and they still must travel to four of the top six, so home form is going to be vitally important for them.
Just three of Huddersfield’s remaining home games are against sides currently in the top six and one of those is against Chelsea three days after this match. It’s important then that they start piling up the home points or an immediate return to the Championship looks inevitable. Trouble is the last home goal scored by a Huddersfield Town player was on November 4.
Brighton and Hove Albion start the weekend in 12th place, seven points above the relegation zone that they have avoided being anywhere near this season. Recent form is a slight worry though with no wins in their last four league games and only two points earned and just a Glenn Murray penalty in the last three matches.
They go into this game with some decent away form behind them. They have two wins in their last three away league matches with wins over West Ham United and Swansea City and only lost 1-0 at Old Trafford. With a midweek trip to Tottenham coming up after this game and then a tricky home clashes with Burnley and Watford and an away game at Chelsea, they could be in for a difficult December.
Conclusion
Both teams could do with a win from this game as they try their best to keep out of the relegation zone. Huddersfield Town are struggling for goals and have lost their last four league games. There has been some good home form of course with that win over Manchester United and so nearly getting a point against Manchester City. Just where the goals are going to come from is the big worry at present. Brighton and Hove Albion are starting to find life a bit tougher in recent weeks and also struggling to score consistently. They have shown some good away form and this game looks booked to be one that has under 2.5 goals in it.
