Houston Rockets vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Current situation
For a young and inexperienced team like the Rockets, it’s quite normal to expect fluctuations in form and that’s exactly what happened to them at the start of February. They dropped 6 games in a row, that run cost them a couple of spots in the standings and now they find themselves only in 4th behind the Thunder, Grizzlies and Nuggets. All is not lost though, if they can retain some of the form that got them to the 2nd seed earlier in the year, they can climb right back up in the standings.
In the final 26 games we will see what exactly the Minnesota Timberwolves are made out of. This team has been questioned a lot this year and for good reason. The defense that propelled them to a top 3 seed last season is no longer there, they are in midst of a long and exhausting battle for one of the play-in tournament spots. A win here gets them within half a game of the Clippers who are in the 6th seed.
Houston Rockets Stats & Form
It wasn’t the best of games for the Rockets before the break as they lost to the new look Warriors at home 105-98. Oddly enough they shot the ball better both from the field and three-point land, but still managed to lose that game. The number one reason was turnovers as they let the ball slip away a total of 20 times. A lot more is expected from the likes of Jalen Green who had just 9 points in 22 minutes played.
Minnesota Timberwolves Stats & Form
Naz Reid was the hero for Minnesota in their last game before the break as he scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and 7 assists in an upset win over Oklahoma City. The T’Wolves entered the game as 9.5 point underdogs and overcome a 5-for-18 effort from Anthony Edwards to take down the number one team in the West. They are one of the more reliable teams against the spread in road games this year, covering in 15 of 27 games so far.
Houston Rockets vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Head-to-Head
It’s been all Minnesota in head-to-head meetings in recent seasons. Ant Man and his crew have won 12 of 14 meetings, including 6 of their last 7 when playing at Houston. From a bettors perspective they’ve also covered the spread 10 times in those 14 meetings, while in the 10 most recent they are outscoring the Rockets by 8.7 points per game.
Houston Rockets – Minnesota Timberwolves Odds
The Rockets are slight favorites here, if you fancy them to win you can get odds of 4/5. If you feel like the T’Wovles will win the 3rd straight head-to-head meeting, odds of 6/5 are available.
The point total has been set at 221.5 points, with odds of 10/11 supporting either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Houston Rockets vs Minnesota Timberwolves (21.02.2025)
All 3 meetings between the Rockets and Timberwolves this season have been highly entertaining and we expect nothing less from Friday’s affair. There are a lot of injury concerns on both rosters, especially Minnesota’s as Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley and Julius Randle are all questionable to play. Ant Man didn’t participate in the all-star weekend festivities, that should help him recover from the groin injury he has had for a while now. Assuming he is able to play here, that would undoubtedly raise Minnesota’s chances of getting a victory. In the 3 meetings this season Edwards is averaging 31.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds on an efficient 44% from the field. With 6 wins in 10 games the Timberwolves are the more in-form team than the Rockets who have won just 3 of 10 and just recently ended a 6-game losing streak. The Timberwolves rank 4th best in three-point defense this year, taking away the long shot will be a priority for them here. Alperen Sengun is a player to keep an eye on, the Rockets will only go as far as Sengun takes them this year. Rudy Gobert will have his hands full trying to contain him, but overall the Timberwolves have done a solid job defending the paint this year as they allow just 47.1 points per game from that area which is the 8th best mark in the NBA. The phrase “Defense wins champions” will once again be put to the test here, whoever plays better on that end will win this game. We believe the T’Wolves are the more battle tested team in that area, so let’s back them to cover.
