Fraser Attracting Interest from the Gunners
Arsenal ended the season on a low point as they lost the 2018/19 UEFA Cup final to fellow Premier League club, Chelsea. It was the manner of the defeat as much as anything else which set alarm bells ringing at the Emirates and perhaps summed up where the club are at this moment in time.
Having finished fifth in the Premier League, 1 point behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal will be without Champions League football again next season. Not being able to offer a place in the biggest European cup competition is going to damage their ability to attract top European players and it may be time to look a little closer to home.
Ryan Fraser
The likes of Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan did not cover themselves in glory last season and Unai Emery may be looking to strengthen his squad in the wide positions. One man who performed well in the Premier League last season and would be attainable for the Gunners is Ryan Fraser.
The Bournemouth wide man scored 7 goals and provided 14 assists in the Premier League for Bournemouth during the 2018/19 campaign. That left the Sottish international just one assist behind Eden Hazard, who has left the Premier League in a big money move to Real Madrid.
Fraser still has some way to go to match the exploits of the Belgian international, who scored over double the amount of goals as the Cherries winger last season. However, at 25 years of age, there is plenty of time for Fraser to develop his game and become an even better player.
Fraser has just one year left on his current deal at the Vitality Stadium and now may be the perfect time to strike for Arsenal. William Hill offer just 1/2 for Fraser to join the Gunners before the end of the summer transfer window.
Additional Interest
However, Arsenal can expect some competition for his signature over the summer. Having finished second for assists in the Premier League last season, there is sure to be interest from other clubs.
Manchester United are looking to overhaul their current squad before next season and have already made what some consider to be a shock move for Daniel James. Would Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be tempted to add another winger to his squad for next season, one who is proven to create goals in the Premier League?
The proposed £30 million price tag may put off most clubs but with one year left on his deal, Fraser could possibly engineer a move for a lower price. Fraser is 7/1 with Coral to join Manchester United before the close of the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur are 9/1 with Liverpool out at 16/1.
