Every game is looking more and more desperate for Forest Green now who are rock bottom of League Two with a five-match losing streak going as well. They really need a bit boost but they take on a Port Vale side who have recovered so well from their early season struggles when they were floundering at the bottom. Port Vale are 19/20 favourites for the three points on offer here with Forest Green trading at 11/4.
Forest Green Form:
Five defeats on the bounce and just the one point collected in their last seven matches. That is the state of play, the poor state of play, that Forest Green find themselves in at the moment. They just can’t quite hang in there and five of their last six defeats during this slump have been by just the one goal. They have only managed the one home clean sheet this season as well and have scored only the fourteen goals in their thirteen home games. Rovers have failed to score in 46% of their home games and even though they are facing a bottom-half of the table side here, punters will still be wary about backing the home side. Rovers have netted one goal only in their last three home games.
Port Vale Form:
The Valiants were on a great run of form (W4 D1) before they went to second-placed Notts County on the weekend and lost 1-0. That was a credible defeat though as they didn’t get hammered. Vale have taken three clean sheets in their last six matches and their defence has really stepped its game up. There’s a decent chance that they could get out of this trip to the New Lawn with a clean sheet. Vale are W4 D3 L6 for the season away from home but they have won just one of their last five road games. Just 31% of their away games have gone over 2.5 goals which is a credit to their defence, but also reflects their lack of scoring threat. The league average for away goals conceded is 1.48 per game and Vale are under that and so may keep Rovers at arm’s length.
Head to Head News:
The first ever league meeting between these two was played out back in September last year and that ended in a 1-1 draw at Vale Park. The only other previous meetings was a 2012 FA Cup clash which Port Vale won 3-2 away from home.
Top Betting Tips:
The Valiants have to be worth a flutter in this one because Forest Green are well out of form at the moment. This is likely going to be a low scoring duel between them and the Valiants are great value to win this by a one-goal margin.
