Everything you need to know about the Champions League draw

shutterstock 1416656456 1Now that all Champions League group stage matches have been played, it is clear which clubs will feature in the knockout phase after the long winter break. Next week will reveal what the eighth finals will look like. This is all you need to be about the draw, which takes place next Monday from 12.00pm.

Sixteen clubs have qualified for the knockout phase of the Champions League: eight group winners and eight runners-up. These clubs have been divided into Pot 1 (the group winners) and Pot 2 (the runners-up). In the draw, clubs from Pot 1 and Pot 2 will be paired together. Clubs from the same country or that were in the same pool in the group stage cannot draw each other.

Matches in the eighth final will be played on Tuesday 14, Wednesday 15, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 February. Clubs from Pot 1 will start the eighth final with an away match. The draw for the final part of the tournament will be held on 17 March, after the eighth finals.
