Even Joël Veltman cannot tame unstoppable Erling Haaland
Manchester City recovered from the lost topper against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. Coach Pep Guardiola’s team was 3-1 too strong for Brighton & Hove Albion on their home ground. Not for the first time this season, Erling Haaland was the big man for The Citizens’ side.
The Norwegian phenom needed just over 20 minutes to score his first of the afternoon. After a long ball from Ederson and an error in judgement by Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sánchez, Haaland slid the ball into the empty goal. Just before half-time, he was allowed to touch down from 11 metres for the 2-0. The ball was put on the spot after a foul on Bernardo Silva. Referee Craig Pawson did not want to believe it at first, but gave the home side a penalty after interference from VAR.
