Following on from our Weekend Premier League Accumulator, we’ve got a European League one for you now, taking in games from La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga. The Premier League got underway a couple of weeks before the rest of the big European leagues, so all of these teams featured today have only played one league game. Looking at the upcoming games, I think there’s value to be had betting on the big teams this weekend with handicaps for some matches.
Genoa vs Juventus
Juventus, as ever, are the big favourites for the Serie A crown and they got off to a winning start last weekend by beating Cagliari 3-0 at home. Juventus looked in confident mood following their surprise defeat to Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana Final the week before and they are big favourites to pick up another win this time out against a Genoa side who drew their first game of the season 0-0 with Sassuolo.
Juventus to win 4/11 (Ladbrokes)
Roma vs Inter Milan
The biggest game in Italy this weekend takes place in the capital city as Roma host Inter Milan. These two giants of Italian football both picked up wins on the opening weekend as Roma overcame a stubborn Atalanta side 1-0 away from whilst Inter Milan were extremely impressive in brushing aside Fiorentina 3-0 at the San Siro. Inter Milan are expected to be more competitive this season, but I’m backing Roma to pick up the win in this one.
Roma to win 13/10 (Ladbrokes)
Real Madrid vs Valencia
Real Madrid look simply irresistible at the moment and are playing some superb football. They destroyed Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, comfortably beat Manchester United in the European Super Cup and strolled past Deportivo La Coruna on the opening weekend of the league season. Valencia picked up a solid win on the opening weekend against Las Palmas, but they will be no match for Real Madrid in this one and I’m backing Los Blancos to win big here, even without Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real Madrid (-1) 2/5 (Ladbrokes)
CD Alaves vs Barcelona
These two sides met in the Copa Del Rey final at the end of last season in a game in which Barcelona ran out 3-1 winners. Much has changed for Barcelona since then with Neymar leaving and the club appearing to find themselves on the decline. They put that behind them during a routine 2-0 win over Real Betis on the opening day and I’m backing them to win this one too. CD Alaves lost 1-0 to Leganes on the opening day and it could be a tough season for the club this time around.
Barcelona (-1) 8/11 (Ladbrokes)
Borussia Dortmund vs Hertha Berlin
Borussia Dortmund were superb on the opening day of the season, picking up a 3-0 win over Wolfsburg. Many of the club’s top players have been linked with a move away from Germany this summer, but so far they have all stayed and manager Pal Dardai will be hoping for a successful season.
This weekend they come up against a Hertha Berlin side who also won their opening game of the season, 2-0 against VfB Stuttgart. I think Dortmund will have too much in attack here though and I’m backing them for the win.
