Group A
- Germany
- Hungary
- Scotland
- Switzerland
Hosts Germany have been handed a favourable draw. Die Mannschaft take on Scotland in the opening match of the competition. Hungary and Switzerland make up the group, with Julian Nagelsmann’s team being the clear favourites. Let’s take a closer look at the nations from Group A:
Germany
As the host nation, Germany automatically qualified for Euro 2024. They come into the tournament in good form. Wins over France and the Netherlands in March will give the team confidence. Manager Nagelsmann has plenty of young talent to select from. Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz will compete for attacking positions.
Hungary
Hungary qualified for Euro 2024 thanks to an unbeaten run in Group G. Five wins saw Hungary finish four points clear of Serbia, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Barnabás Varga both scoring four goals during the campaign. Hungary drew with France and Germany at Euro 2020. Despite this, they were eliminated at the group stage. Coach Marco Rossi has been in charge since 2018.
Scotland
Scotland did well to qualify for Euro 2024 after being drawn alongside Spain, Norway and Georgia. They only lost once, with five wins meaning that Steve Clarke’s side finished six points clear of their closest rival. Andrew Robertson, John McGinn and Scott McTominay are among the players to look out for. However, recent defeats against Northern Ireland and the Netherlands suggest that the Scots could struggle in Germany.
Switzerland
Switzerland reached the quarter-finals at Euro 2020 and famously beating France in the process. Head Coach Murat Yakin has a good blend of youth and experience in his squad. Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanj and Noah Okafor are their star names. Scoring goals could be the biggest issue for the Swiss. They scored just one goal in matches against Romania, Denmark and Ireland heading into the tournament.

Group B
- Spain
- Croatia
- Italy
- Albania
Group B contains two former European champions. Spain in 1964, 2008 and 2012. Italy came out on top in 1968 and 2020. 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia also feature, along with Alabia, who qualified for just the second time in its history.
Spain
2010 World Cup winners Spain dropped just three points during their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign. Luis de la Fuente is now in charge, with Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Dani Olmo set to star for the Red Fury this summer. Spain is among the outsiders to win Euro 2024, mostly due to their lack of firepower.
Croatia
Croatia has consistently caused upsets at major tournaments over the last decade. They reached the 2018 World Cup final, before finishing third four years later. Their record at the Euro’s is not as good. The Blazers were eliminated in the Round of 16 in both 2016 and 2020. Boss Zlatko Dalić can still call upon 38-year-old Luka Modric and Manchester City duo Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
Italy
Reigning champions Italy qualified for Euro 2024 despite winning just 50% of their Group C matches. The Azzurri finished six points behind England and ahead of the Ukraine on goal difference alone. PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Nicolo Barrella and Federico Chiesa are among Italy’s standout players. It would be a surprise should Italy become only the second team to retain the European Championship trophy.
Albania
Albania will hope to improve on their showing at Euro 2020. They collected just one point from their three group-stage matches. Former Arsenal and Brazil defender Sylvinho is in charge for Albania. The 50-year-old will need big performances from Fulham’s Armando Broja and Inter Milan’s Kristjan Asllani if Albania are to have any chance of making it out of Group B.

Group C
- Slovenia
- Denmark
- Serbia
- England
England is the standout nation in Group C. However, Slovenia, Serbia, and Denmark will all be quietly confident that they will reach the knockout stage at Euro 2024.
Slovenia
Slovenia qualified for the European Championship for the first time since 2000. They did so by winning 7 out of 10 matches, finishing level on points with Denmark. Matjaž Kek’s side is something of an unknown quantity. 20-year-old striker Benjamin Sesko and goalkeeper Jan Oblak are recognised talents.
Denmark
1992 European champions Denmark are the second favourites to qualify from Group C. The Danes have good squad depth. Premier League stars Rasmus Hojlund, Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are among their best players. Manager Kasper Hjulmand saw his team beat the Faroe Islands and draw with Switzerland in the build-up to Euro 2024.
Serbia
Serbia secured its place in Euro 2024 by finishing second in its qualifying group. They will feature in the competition for the first time since 2000. Runners-up in 1960 and 1968, Serbia’s hopes in Germany rely largely on Dusan Tadic, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Sergej Milinković-Savić.
England
After penalty shootout heartbreak at Wembley Stadium in the final of Euro 2024, England go into the tournament as the bookie’s favourite in Germany. Gareth Southgate will hope that Harry Kane, Phil Foden and others can bring their fine domestic form to the tournament. However, poor performances against Belgium and Brazil in March have raised questions about their chances this summer.

Group D
- Poland
- Netherlands
- Austria
- France
In what is undoubtedly the group of death, there is little to choose between Poland, Netherlands, Austria and France. While 2x winners France are the favourites, their Group D rivals will have other ideas.
Poland
Poland will play in the European Championship for the fourth consecutive tournament. Their best showing came in 2016 when they reached the quarter-finals. Head Coach Michał Probierz took over in September 2023. Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski remains their biggest threat.
Netherlands
1998 champions Netherlands will be looking to make it past the quarter-finals for the first time since 2000. Ronald Koeman is in charge of the Dutch national team for the second time. Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch are almost certain to be named in the squad. However, Holland is sweating about the fitness of key midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Austria
Austria finished second in a qualifying group that included Belgium, Sweden, Azerbaijan, and Estonia. Having recently turned down the chance to manage Bayern Munich, Ralf Rangnick hopes for a strong showing from Austria at Euro 2024. The majority of the squad is based in Germany. However, star defender David Alaba is expected to miss out due to injury.
France
The Euro 2024 odds have France as one of the favourites. Les Bleus dropped just two points during qualifying. The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele will have any defence worried this summer. Boss Didier Deschamps has already led France to World Cup success in 2018 and the Euro 2016 final.

Group E
- Belgium
- Slovakia
- Romania
- Ukraine
Belgium are the clear favourites to top Group E. However, the Red Devils will come up against three improving nations this summer, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine.
Belgium
Belgium was knocked out in the quarter-finals at Euro 2016 and 2020. However, with Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Romelu Lukaku and others, the Red Devils stand a good chance of going further this year. Former RB Leipzig boss Domenico Tedesco took over in 2023 and saw his side record draws against England and Ireland in March.
Slovakia
Slovakia’s only two defeats during Euro 2024 qualifying came against Portugal. Without former favourite Marek Hamsik, Slovakia is without a star player. Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka and Feyenoord’s David Hancko offer great experience. Slovakia reached the Round of 16 at Euro 2016, before losing 3-0 against Germany.
Romania
Romania finished ahead of Switzerland and Israel to top their qualifying group. Little is expected of Romania, a nation that has reached the knockout stages of the European Championship just once. Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin will likely line up alongside Razvan Rat, Dennis Man and George Puscas.
Ukraine
Playoff wins against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Iceland saw Ukraine qualify for Euro 2024. Euro 2024 betting odds suggest the blue and yellow stand a good chance of making it out of Group E. Serhiy Rebrov can call upon Premier League stars Mykhailo Mudryk, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Illya Zabarnyi.

Group F
- Turkey
- Georgia
- Portugal
- Czechia
Group F is a tough one to call at Euro 2024. Portugal are the favourites on paper. However, Turkey, Czechia, and debutant Georgia will be looking to cause an upset and qualify for the Round of 16.
Turkey
With just one win from their last two European Championship outings, Turkey will hope to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2008. Captain Hakan Çalhanoğlu has enjoyed a fine campaign for Inter Milan. Arda Güler and Kenan Yıldız are two young talents to watch. Former Italian international Vincenzo Montella is the Turkish manager.
Georgia
A playoff penalty shootout win over Greece saw Georgia qualify for the Euro finals for the first time. Frenchman Willy Sagnol will lead the team in Germany. Their chances rely heavily on star player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. European Championship odds suggest Georgia faces an uphill task to reach the Round of 16.
Portugal
The Euro 2024 winner odds have Portugal as an outsider. Roberto Martinez is now in charge of Lusos. Cristiano Ronaldo will hope to add to his 128 international goals. This is likely because Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva will supply him. The 2016 champions lost to Belgium in the Round of 16 at Euro 2020.
Czechia
1976 winners Czechia qualified for Euro 2024 after finishing level on points with Albania at the top of Group E. Striker Patrik Schick scored five goals at Euro 2020 and will lead the line once again. The latest Czech squad had 10 players from Sparta Prague.
