Detroit Pistons vs Philadelphia 76ers: Current situation

After their most recent loss to Houston on Wednesday, the 76ers are now just 3-14 on the year and only the Washington Wizards have a worse record at this moment in the Eastern Conference. Paul George and Joel Embiid continue to be absent with injuries, joining them on the injury list are also Caleb Martin and Kyle Lowry.

Detroit suffered a tough 131-111 loss at Memphis on Wednesday in a game in which they led by as many as 11 points, but were also behind by at least 30. With Cade Cunningham and Tobias Harris out of the line-up the Pistons were pretty much guaranteed to lose as this team isn’t really deep enough to compensate for its two best players being out. This is a solid bounce back opportunity though, Detroit is 4-3 on the season in 7 games when they are the favorite.

Just like the Pistons, Philadelphia also enters Friday’s game after a tough loss. The Houston Rockets got the best of them 122-115 after overtime. The Sixers had 4 starters play 40+ minutes, but in the end they just ran out of energy, wasting another 39 point performance from Tyrese Maxey. As underdogs the 76ers are just 1-10 on the season so far, without Embiid and George they’ll be in that role on most nights.

Betting tip and prediction: Detroit Pistons vs Philadelphia 76ers (30.11.2024)
Both teams are currently struggling with injuries to key players, but the Pistons should be getting Cade Cunningham back according to the latest reports coming out of Detroit. That would be a major boost to their chances of winning this game, Cade had 22 points and 7 assists in the first meeting of the season. Tobias Harris is another player to keep an eye on here as he goes up against his former team. He also had a really solid output with 18 points in that first meeting, players tend to get extra motivated when facing a team that traded them away and we expect nothing less from Harris here. Philadelphia’s only hope of winning is another monster game by Tyrese Maxey, but as we saw on Wednesday even when he goes for 39 points they don’t win. Detroit also has an edge in three-point shooting. They connect on almost 35% of their threes this season, while the 76ers are 29th with a conversion rate of just 31.8%. Until the Sixers get Embiid and George back from injuries, I’m afraid they won’t be winning many games. Back the Pistons to cover at home.
