Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks: Current situation
Cleveland went into the break with a lot of momentum having won 4 games in a row, once again proving that they mean business this year. At 44-10 SU and with just 28 games left in the regular season, it’s quite clear they are headed towards the postseason as the number one seed. It would take a major collapse for them to get caught atop of the standings where they have a 5.5 game lead over the 2nd seeded Boston Celtics.
New York still has a chance to move up the standings, the Celtics are just 2.5 games ahead in 2nd place. But even if that does not happen, Knicks fans will be happy with the way their team has performed this year. It has been a odd season to say the least, the Knicks have completely transformed themselves compared to the Tom Thibodeau led teams in the past. They are one of the most prolific offenses in the league, but defensively they are in the bottom 10 in most categories.
Cleveland Cavaliers Stats & Form
A 131-108 win at Toronto got the Cavaliers their 4th win in a row and 8th in 9 games. It was a balanced attack, led by Donovan Mitchell who had 21 points. All 5 starters scored in double figures, the game was pretty much in the books after the first quarter where the Cavs led 41-17. The lead was 39 points at one point, which meant that the starters could get the rest of the night off. There will be no shortage of freshness for the Cavs as they come out of the all-star break.
New York Knicks Stats & Form
New York needed overtime to dispose of the Atlanta Hawks in their last game before the break. Karl-Anthony Towns had yet another explosion with 44 points and 10 rebounds. He also got a ton of help from Jalen Brunson who finished with 36 and 8 assists, but what is concerning for the Knicks is the fact that they allowed Atlanta to put up 110 shot attempts in that game, while giving up 19 offensive rebounds. That cannot happen on Friday against a much superior Cavaliers team.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks: Head-to-Head
The win that the Cavaliers got in the first meeting of this regular season was only their 3rd in the last 10 meetings. New York has pretty much dominated this match-up for the past 3 seasons or so, going 7-3 ATS/SU during that stretch. Interestingly enough, those 10 games were all marked by low scoring with the under cashing 9 times in 10 games and an average of just 201.8 points scored per game.

The point total has been set at 235.5 points, with odds of 10/11 supporting either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks (21.02.2025)
Both teams have been red hot entering the All-Star break offensively. If we look at just the last 15 games, the Cavaliers have the 2nd highest offensive rating in the NBA, while the Knicks are one spot below them in 3rd. So even if neither of the two sides ranks in the top 10 in terms of pace during this stretch, that shouldn’t deter us from looking at the point total as a potential bet here. The last 2 Knicks games both saw over 240 points scored, while for Cleveland the last 2 games both finished with 235+ points scored. Coming out of the break both teams should be well fresh and well rested to compete here, the new format did not exert all that much energy from the respective all-stars involved in that game. Karl-Anthony Town is one player to keep an eye on here as he’s had 40+ point performances in back-to-back games just before the break. He had only 13 against Cleveland in the first meeting back in late October, we are pretty sure he will want to make amends in Friday’s game. A lot has changed since then, both teams have prioritized offense, especially the Cavaliers who are the NBA’s most lethal three-point shooting team. With the Cavs ranking 14th and the Knicks ranking 22nd in defense over their last 15 games, we believe backing the over is the way to go in this game.
