Chelsea Search for New Manager
When Chelsea eventually unveiled Maurizo Sarri as their new manager ahead of the 2018/19 season it was set to be the start of a promising relationship.
The Italian brought his own style of play to Stamford Bridge and in doing so won the UEFA Europa League and guided the club back into the Champions League. He became the first manager to go undefeated in his first 12 Premier League matches and things were looking good for the Blues.
However, despite reaching the final of the League Cup and finishing third in the Premier League, something wasn’t right. The style of play and Sarri’s philosophy did not sit well with the Chelsea fans and he left the club after just one season, to join Juventus.
That leaves Chelsea without a manager and they need to appoint a new boss as quickly as possible.
Frank Lampard
One name has emerged as a clear favourite to take the Chelsea hot seat next season and his name is Frank Lampard. The former England international midfield player has a special relationship with Chelsea following his successful time at the club as a player.
Lampard is the all-time top goal scorer for Chelsea, won the Premier League title three times, the FA Cup four times, the League Cup twice, the Champions League and Europa League. He is a legend and now has managerial experience with his current club, Derby County.
Lampard failed to guide the Rams to the Premier League, losing in the Playoff Final but has won many admirers for the way he went about the job. Many Chelsea fans believe he is the right man to take the club forward following the departure of Sarri and Lampard is the 1/16 favourite with Coral to be named the new manager of the club.
Old Faces
Some onlookers believe Lampard does not have the experience required to manage at the top level and there are some other names in the hat to become the next manager of Chelsea. Two of which have been at the club before and enjoyed success.
Rafa Benitez is 9/1 with Ladbrokes to be named the next Chelsea manager. The current Newcastle United boss was named interim manager at Stamford Bridge in 2012. Despite facing a hostile reception, he guided the club to a top four place in the Premier League and won the Europa League, defeating Benfica in the final.
Jose Mourinho is 16/1 to make another return to Chelsea having been sacked from the role as manager in 2015. The Portuguese enjoyed great success at the club in his first stint as manager between 2004 and 2007 but the nature of his dismissal last time he was in charge at the Blues may lead them to looking elsewhere.
Other names in contention to be the next manager of Chelsea include Nuno Espirito Santo at 16/1, Max Allegri at 18/1 and Thierry Henry at 25/1.
