Brazil vs Peru Game Preview
Brazil beat eternal rivals Argentina in the semis to reach the final, and they kept their net intact in every game at this tournament. Considering they destroyed Peru 5-0 in the group stage, it would be very surprising if they don’t get a win here. Los Incas, on the other hand, shocked the entire world with a big 3-0 victory over Chile in the semi-finals despite recording just three attempts on goal, but it will be extremely hard to upset the odds once again.
Brazil Team News and Latest Form
Brazil’s impressive 2-0 semi-final victory over Argentina has them within grasp of a ninth Copa America title – considering they are yet to concede a goal in this tournament, and thumped opponents Peru 5-0 during the group stage; their favourites tag is justified.
The footballing giants can be frustrated though, and failed to score within 90 minutes in two of their five Copa America matches so far – albeit those were the only games that they were unable to find the net since the beginning of 2018. Defensively astute, Brazil also conceded only five times across that period, with four of those goals arriving before half-time.
Gabriel Jesus scored Brazil’s semi-final opener and has netted the opening goal in five of the last seven international games he’s scored in. There have been over 2.5 goals in Brazil’s recent four Copa America final appearances, with at least two first-half goals in each.
Peru Team News and Latest Form
Peru make their first final appearance since they won the Copa America back in 1975, but with just one victory over Brazil across the last 19 competitive H2Hs (W1, D5, L13), they are underdogs for a reason. Yet they did defy the odds in both the quarter and semi-finals and have registered a clean sheet in four of their last six competitive fixtures.
Defensive slip-ups will have to be at a minimum though if Peru are to keep a clean sheet here, and the fact they’ve conceded a penalty in three of their last four Copa America fixtures – albeit two were missed – will concern boss Ricardo Gareca.
Edison Flores scored Peru’s semi-final opener and has been his nation’s first or last scorer in the previous nine fixtures he’s scored in. Three of Peru’s last four Copa America matches involved a goal on the 90th minute or later.
Brazil vs Peru Head to Head
Brazil and Peru have met 31 times since 1936 and Brazil are leading in all-time H2H duels with 21 victories while Peru recorded three wins with seven draws. Brazil suffered just one defeat to Peru in this century, and it was at the previous Copa America, and that loss cost Brazil a place in the quarter-finals as they finished third in the group behind Peru and Ecuador. The Seleção dismantled Peru 5-0 in their previous H2H duel, and it was in the group stage of this tournament.
Brazil vs Peru Betting Tip
The odds on the Brazilians to win are low at 3/10, and backing the host at full time is not an option here. Instead, backing Brazil to cover the -1.5 spread on Asian Handicap is a more attractive option, and you can find the 1/1 odds with bet365. If you prefer betting on goals, we’re suggesting you go with over 2.5 at 12/11 with Betfair. Both options are better than betting on Brazil to win.
