Arsenal may well have to roll up their sleeves on the weekend as they make a trip to the south coast to face Bournemouth. The Gunners are going through the wringer a bit at the moment with injuries stacking up in their squad and they had to endure a long 90 minutes in midweek against Chelsea in the EFL Cup Semi-Final First Leg. So it’s back to Premier League duty on the weekend for them and they will be facing a Bournemouth side who are in survival mode quite simply.
The Gunners have not had one of their best seasons out on the road it has to be said, far from it really as they have only taken three wins away from the Emirates this term. But they have managed to go five unbeaten in their current road form. But still, overall it’s certainly not good enough by their standards and nowhere near good enough to get themselves in the title race and they are pretty much just scrapping for a top-four finish at this point, which is no certainty. The Gunners collected a comfortable 3-0 home win over Bournemouth earlier in the season, but can they deliver on the road?
The Cherries have remained unbeaten in their last three league outings with four points collected from their last two at the Vitality. That has given them a bit of light at the end of the tunnel but Eddie Howe’s men are in a real survival battle as they are still only the one point away from safety and they have to keep plugging away. They certainly need some defensive improvement as they have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five home games (W1 D2 L2). They have also never beaten Arsenal, going D1 L5 against the Gunners in six previous contests, conceding at least two goals in each of those matches.
