Betting Tip: Yeovil v Colchester

Yeovil have had a strange season because they have been a really solid home side and really flimsy out on the road for the large part. So they will look for some more home comforts at Huish Park on Saturday when the Glovers take on the struggling Colchester who are hovering just above the drop zone. The U’s have picked up just the one win in their last six played and would like a bit more breathing space between themselves and the three clubs beneath them. Yeovil are 6/4 underdogs actually for this one with the visiting U’s at 15/8.

Yeovil Form

The Glovers have gone unbeaten at home this season in League Two with a W2 D3 record. They are on a three match drawing streak there. Each of those draws though happened against sides who have been struggling, namely Cheltenham (who are doing better since) Morecambe and the current bottom side Port Vale. Failure to win those types of games is strange because their two wins at home happened against the much stronger Accrington and Coventry, both of which are sitting in the top four. So at least the Glovers are resilient on home soil. They have been leading at half time in three of their five home games and only 40% of their home fixtures have gone over 2.5 goals.

Colchester Form

The form of the U’s this season reads W2 D3 L5 so they are in a bit of a struggle at the moment. They are winless in their last four played now and both wins that they have collected this season were on home soil. So it just one point from fifteen for them out on the road in League Two this season. Hardly convincing stuff from them and that makes them a risky bet. They have only scored in three of their five away games as well.

Head to Head News

Yeovil won this corresponding fixture last season and the Glovers have won five of their last six home games (L1) against Colchester in all competitions. The U’s have won four of the last five League One meetings though (home and away) so that is why they are trading as well as they are in the match outright.

Top Betting Tips

Yeovil look a sound bet as they look a little bit underestimated here. Colchester can’t be trusted to get their first away win of the season on the board against a side who are unbeaten at home. This may not be a classic but a Yeovil-Draw double chance at 4/7 is at wonderful value.
