West Ham United host Liverpool at London Stadium in the late game on Saturday evening with both sides desperate to pick up a victory. It has been another difficult season for Slaven Bilic at West Ham and the pressure is really mounting on the former Croatia boss to get things going at the club. West Ham currently find themselves down in 16th place in the Premier League, having won just two of their first ten games this season. Liverpool, on the other hand, are currently 6th, but with four of the five teams above them playing each other on Sunday, this weekend represents a great chance for Liverpool to close the gap on the teams above them.

West Ham United recovered from their embarrassing 3-0 home defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion with an impressive win against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup, but things went wrong again last weekend. West Ham looked to be cruising to victory against bottom club Crystal Palace, leading 2-0 at half time before throwing it away in the second half to draw 2-2. Despite all of their signings this summer, none of them have really impressed with Joe Hart, Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic all underwhelming the London Stadium crowd.
Liverpool
Liverpool come into this game off the back of two impressive victories against NK Maribor and Huddersfield Town. Mohamed Salah continued his impressive season by picking up his 10th goal in 16 games against Maribor, but he unfortunately missed out on Liverpool’s player of the month award after fans voted for Dejan Lovren out of sympathy for his poor form. Jurgen Klopp will again be without Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne, but the German is confident that all three will be fit following the next international break.
Talking Points
1. Liverpool have conceded 15 goals in 5 games away from home, more than any other team in the league.
2. West Ham United have scored on average just a goal a game this season, despite bringing Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic in the summer.
3. Liverpool have lost three of their last six Premier League fixtures against West Ham United.
Prediction
Liverpool have really struggled away from home this season, winning just one of their five games on the road and conceding 15 goals in the process. They impressed me against Huddersfield Town though and they certainly looked more adept at being patient and breaking down a stubborn side in that game. West Ham United have looked very poor this season and I can see them struggling again on Saturday. I think there will be goals in this game, with both sides struggling defensively, but I can see Liverpool coming out on top.
Betting Tips (Ladbrokes)
Liverpool start this game as 4/6 favourites for the win, whilst West Ham United are available at 21/5, with the draw at 10/3. I don’t think those odds on a Liverpool win are good enough really, considering Jurgen Klopp’s sides potential to implode. The 2/1 available on Liverpool to win and BTTS looks more tempting to me as I can’t see Liverpool keeping a clean sheet in this game.
