Two teams having vastly different seasons meet at The Liberty Stadium on Wednesday evening as 19th placed Swansea City host runaway leaders Manchester City in what looks like an entirely one sided affair on paper. Paul Clement is really struggling this season after keeping The Swans up last time around and he would surely have been sacked by now was it not for his heroics last season. Clement is now 1/1 (Sky Bet) to be the next Premier League manager sacked and considering you would expect his side to lose on Wednesday, he could well find himself out of a job by next weekend.

Swansea City
Swansea City picked up a massive win against fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion on Saturday as Wilfried Bony scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win for Clement’s side. Bony has now scored in successive matches and Clement will be hoping that the striker can recapture the form shown during his first spell with the Welsh club. Tammy Abraham was benched against West Bromwich Albion and the club’s top scorer could well find himself on the bench again on Wednesday.
Manchester City
Manchester City picked up an absolutely huge win against Manchester United last time out as goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi gave them a 2-1 win. In reality, it could have been a much bigger win as City were pretty comfortable throughout the whole match. That victory moved City 11 points clear at the top of the table and they look as though they have already wrapped up the title. Pep Guardiola may decide to make changes on Wednesday and Sergio Aguero will likely start the game after Gabriel Jesus was preferred against Manchester United. Captain Vincent Kompany came off at half time in the Manchester derby and he is likely to miss Wednesday’s match through injury.
Talking Points
1. Manchester City have won 14 matches in a row in the Premier League; a new record.
2. Swansea City have won just three games all season and currently find themselves bottom of the Home table.
3. Manchester City are the top scorers in the Premier League with 48 goals whilst Swansea City are the lowest scorers in the league with just 9 goals.
Prediction
On paper and looking at the form book, this game looks as though it will be hugely one-sided. The league’s top scorers and runaway leaders taking on the league’s lowest scorers and a side who look destined for relegation. I don’t think there will be any surprises in this one and I can see Manchester City picking up a comfortable victory. The only thing that could hold them back is tiredness after a busy week, but even if Guardiola makes changes, I think they will comfortably win at The Liberty Stadium on Wednesday.
Betting Tips
Manchester City start this match as massive 2/9 favourites, whilst a home win for Swansea City is priced up at 14/1 with the draw available at 6. Swansea City simply don’t score enough goals to pick up victories and I can’t see them breaching the Manchester City backline on Wednesday, so Manchester City to win and BTTS (NO) at 5/6 looks like a banker for me in this one.
