Betting Tip: Slough Town v AFC Rochdale

Slough are one of the lowest ranked teams going off in the second round of the FA Cup. Along with Hereford and Leatherhead, they are coming from the Southern League Premier Division. They pulled off a win against a side a tier above them in the last round and this would be a massive, massive result for them if they can take down Rochdale. The Dale are struggling a bit in League One just above the drop zone and may feel a little bit vulnerable. Rochdale are 4/9 odds on though to win with underdogs Slough at 7/1.

Slough Form

The Rebels slammed Gainsborough Trinity 6-0 in the last round of the FA Cup and that followed a 1-0 win over Folkstone for them in the final qualifying round. So this is a huge occasion for them and the dream of landing a Premier League potentially awaits them if they can get through this. At home they have produced a cracking W8 D1 L1 record this season in all competitions has the Southern League Premier side. They have three clean sheets in their last five on home soil as well. This run to the second round proper equalled their best ever previous run which came to an end at this stage in the 2004/05 season. Can they go one better?

Rochdale Form

The Dale haven’t been without their issues this season and in their home win over Peterborough last weekend, some sections of the crowd were calling for boss Keith Hill to be sacked. They have only won the four league games this season and just snapped a three-win winless streak with that win over Peterborough. The Dale haven’t been great away from Spotland this season winning only twice on their travels and both of those were cup wins, one in the EFL Cup at Mansfield and the other over Bury in the Football League Trophy. Overall they are W2 D4 L6 on their travels. They have netted in each of their last four away games though and they will probably be feeling a little nervous going into this one.

Top Betting Tips

Rochdale should be winning a game against a side ranked well beneath them in the football tier but they may have to sweat for it. Slough will naturally be up the for a challenge on home soil and will throw the kitchen sink at this. It may be worth backing the favourites Rochdale here by only to squeeze through by a narrow one goal margin as the Dale aren’t a side full of confidence but should just have enough quality at the end of the day.
