Betting Tip: Sevilla v Girona

There are four La Liga matches on Sunday this weekend and the first of those is an intriguing clash between Sevilla and Girona at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
The hosts, Sevilla, start the weekend in 6th place in La Liga but a win would not take them any higher in the table. However, a defeat could see them drop down as far as 10th and that would be very disappointing. Girona are enjoying their first season in the top flight of Spanish football and start this match in 8th place. A win would see them move above Sevilla in the table.

Sevilla Form

Sevilla booked their place in the Copa del Rey final this week, as they defeated Leganes 2-0 at home. This result, coupled with the 1-1 draw in the first leg saw Sevilla progress 3-1 on aggregate. However, their latest performance in La Liga was very poor and they went down 5-1 at Eibar last weekend. This was one of the worst results in the recent history of the club and Vincenzo Montella has got a big job on his hands to turn things around. Sevilla have won only one of their last 8 La Liga games and if they continue in the same form for the remainder of the season, they will finish in mid-table. The good news is they remain difficult to beat at home, having lost only one of their last 20 home La Liga games. but they have failed to win any of the last 3 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Girona Form

Girona travel to Seville full of confidence having remained undefeated in their last 4 La Liga games. There have been wins at home, including a comprehensive 6-0 thrashing of Las Palmas and 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, which came last week. Girona also picked up an excellent point in a 1-1 draw away to Atletico Madrid and held Malaga to a 0-0 draw at La Rosaleda. They have been tough to beat away from home recently and have lost just 2 of their last 11 away league games but have won only one of their last 7 on the road in all competitions. Girona have conceded only 1 goal in their last four league games.

Team News

Sevilla will be without the suspended Ever Banega and Roque Mesa is expected to take his place in the midfield. Gabriel Mercado returns from suspension and should start in defence but Simon Kjaer and Sebastien Corchia are doubtful. Girona also have a player suspended and Pablo Maffeo will probably be replaced at right wing-back by Aday Benitez. Jonas Ramalho may start in the centre of defence with Marc Muniesa being forced to settle for a place on the bench.

Sevilla v Girona – Betting Odds and Predictions

The draw is 37/13 with Ladbrokes. Girona have failed to score more than one goal in each of their last 6 away games this season. Therefore, if they are to take something from the match it could be with under 2.5 goals being scored.

Top Betting Tip Sevilla v Girona

Sevilla have such a good record when playing at home, they come into this match as the favourites but do not be surprised to see Girona come away with something from the match given their recent form. The draw and under 2.5 goals is 21/5 at Ladbrokes. Uruguay forward Christian Stuani has been a revelation in attack for Girona this season and he is currently the fourth top scorer in La Liga. Stuani is 7/4 with William Hill to score at any time.
