Port Vale took a tumble from League One last season and it was a narrow thing in the end because they could have stayed up with a win in their final match of last season, but they only managed a draw. So down into League Two they have dropped and things went pretty well for them in their League Two opener last weekend as they took a very good away win on the board at Crawley. So that was at least a positive start from them and they will be looking to extend that positive start by winning on home soil.
As for Wycombe they had a pretty solid season last term and were in contention for a play off spot but they couldn’t quite squeeze their way through in that competitive battle that went down last term. Wycombe had a real battle on their hands at home last week as they played out a share of the spoils with Lincoln, who had just come up from the National League. This may be a pretty good game and Port Vale are a big price of 8/5 on home soil to take the victory at William Hill while Wycombe are at 2/1.
Port Vale Form
Port Vale then had their struggles last season and at home, they weren’t so bad with a W10 D6 L7 record posted at home in League One. It was their shocking away form which really sank them in the end though. They really struggled to make a big offensive output though last term and so they will be happy with their returns from a 3-1 away victory out at Crawley last weekend. That was a great boost for them and now on home soil, they will be looking for more to get some really good early momentum behind them.
Wycombe Form
Wycombe finished 9th in League Two last season and while they did have one of the better defences around, they were the lowest scoring side of the top ten in the division last season. So in a way, their 2-2 draw at home against Lincoln can offer them some positives because of the goals they found, but the ones that they conceded will have been highly concerning. They will face tougher battles this season and this is a tricky game for them. Wycombe posted a W8 D6 L9 record away from home in League Two last term.
Head to Head News
This will be the first meeting between the two of these since League Two meetings back in the 2012/13 season and Port Vale were on top with four points from those two games. It is Port Vale who are running on a five match unbeaten streak against Wycombe with a W2 D3 record posted. Each of the draws in that sequence were all 1-1 draws which is a nice trend to consider. Port Vale are unbeaten in six at home against Wycombe (W2 D4) and the wins have been in their two home games against the Chairboys.

The 1-1 correct score has some big appeal in this one at a price of 11/2 with William Hill and half of the last ten meetings have produced that scoreline, so there’s a good reason to throw something at that. It is likely that they would both be somewhat happy enough with a share of the spoils at the end of the day to build on what they respectively achieved last weekend.
