After a disappointing start to the season in Turkey, Fenerbahce travel to Osmanlispor at the weekend in the hope of closing the gap between themselves and those at the top of the Super Lig standings. With their opponents currently sitting rock-bottom of the table, it is undoubtedly Aykut Kocaman’s men who are the favourites for victory.
Match Preview
Bottom of the table Osmalispor host Turkish giants Fenerbahce in Ankara on Saturday evening, with the home side searching for the three points that could take them out of the relegation zone. However, with the visitors just as desperate for a victory given their inconsistent start to the campaign, it could well be a tight affair. The match is likely to attract plenty of interest from betting customers however, with a number of attractive markets. Before we get to our betting tips, let’s take a closer look at the two teams.
Osmanlispor FK Team News & Form
Osmanlispor’s latest defeat away at Konyaspor means that İrfan Buz’s side are two points from safety at the bottom of the Super Lig table, with a lack of goals having contributed to their struggles so far this season. Turkish forward Serdar Gurler is Osmanlispor’s top scorer to date, however with just three goals to his name, it is clear to see just what form his team are in. Elsewhere, the likes of Nigerian international Raheem Lawal and Ozer Hurmaci will be hoping to make more of a contribution to the team when they take on Fenerbahce at the weekend. Osmanlispor are a team also struggling defensively however, with the minnows having conceded 21 goals in their ten matches so far this season.
Fenerbahce Team News & Form
Fenerbahce currently sit just inside the Turkish Super Lig top half thanks to four wins so far this season, with Kocaman and his men taking on high-flying Kayserispor on Monday night. French midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has been one of the few standout performers for Fenerbahce so far this season, with the former Marseille man having scored three times in the league. However, with Tottenham loanee Vinvent Janssen and former Spanish international Roberto Soldado to select from in attack, the Turkish giants will be hoping to rediscover their goalscoring form when they make the trip to Ankara at the weekend.
Head to Head
The two teams have met on 16 occasions in the past, with Fenerbahce having won 10 of such meetings, losing just twice. The last meeting between the duo came in Istanbul back in March, when Fener narrowly came out on top with a 1-0 victory. However, with Osmanlispor having claimed a point when the two teams met in the reverse fixture, it is clear that the visitors may not have things all their own way at the weekend.
Betting Odds and Predictions
Despite having struggled for any form of consistency so far this season, it comes as little surprise that it is Fenerbahce who are the favourites for victory with the majority of bookmakers. They can be backed at odds of 2/5 with Ladbrokes, while the same bookmakers offer the home side odds of 21/20 to claim all three points.
Top Betting Tip
However, our top betting tip for the match is to bet on both teams scoring during the 90 minutes, which can be found at best odds of 4/5 at William Hill.
