This is just one of two all-League Two FA Cup second round ties going off on the weekend. The Welsh Club have struggled for wins recently across all competitions so even though the Exiles are going on home soil, they could be at risk in this one. Cambridge are only a point behind the Exiles in League Two this season so this should be a pretty evenly matched FA Cup tie. Home advantage just swings the betting in favour of Newport at 23/20 with Cambridge at 11/5.

Newport Form
The Exiles had a pretty strong couple of months in the new season but they have gone off the boil recently. The Welsh club have only taken the two wins in their last nine games across all competitions now in a W2 D3 L4 record. If you break it down and look at their home form at Rodney Parade there has been just the one win in their last seven played there and the win came in the last round of the FA Cup when they took a 2-1 win over Walsall. They haven’t taken a clean sheet in any of their seven games across all competitions and are going to be vulnerable here.
Cambridge Form
The U’s really aren’t in much better form than the Exiles are this season and that is why they are pretty much together in the League Two standings. Cambridge have really struggled as an offensive unit this season and they have now scored only the one goal in their last five games played and just two in total across their last seven in all competitions. One of those was in a narrow 1-0 home win over Sutton in the FA Cup first round. Defensively though they look more reliable than Newport are if you take their recent 7-0 league drubbing against Luton out of the picture. They are the more likely of the two to collect a clean sheet.
Head to Head News
Cambridge won both meetings with Newport by a one-goal margin last season and that has happened in each of their last three games against the Welsh Club. Overall though they are on a five-match winning streak against Newport and unbeaten in seven against them. Cambridge are 6-2 up in the overall head to head in all competitions with four drawn matches played out.
Top Betting Tips
If Cambridge had goals in them then they would make a far more appealing proposition to go out and actually win this game. However, the two of them just look evenly matched and the U’s are good enough to hold out for a draw away from home. This will probably need a replay.
