Betting Tip: Luton v Chesterfield

The Hatters can be pretty pleased with their returns so far in League Two this season as they head into the weekend sitting in fourth place and as the joint top-scorers in the division. They will be gunning for their third win on the bounce and may be backed to get it as well as Chesterfield are struggling in the basement with just five points from their outings this season. This could be one of the more lopsided games of the next round of matches and the Hatters are 4/9 odds on to claim the home win with Chesterfield at 6.

Luton Form

Luton have come back to life with them having picked up back to back wins in the division. They took an expected home win over Port Vale and followed that up with a good away win at Wycombe. That took them to a W4 D2 L2 record for the season and at home, they have won three of their four games (L1). Luton have scored 17 goals this season and have two exactly in each of their last two games. It’s been pretty solid stuff from them and they have earned three clean sheets in their last six league games as well.

Chesterfield Form

The Spireites are floundering near the foot of the table with only the one win having been posted this season. That was all the way back on August 19th against Port Vale who are the only side beneath them in the standings at the moment. Since then they have gone D2 L3 and their overall away form this season won’t give them any confidence. They have picked up just the one point from four road games this season in the division. They have conceded an average of over two goals per game.

Head to Head News

These two have met this calendar year with Luton taking a 4-0 home win in a Football League Trophy match back in January over the Spireites. Luton are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions against Chesterfield, although this will be their first league meeting since April 2009. Chesterfield have failed to score in four of their last five games against the Hatters.

Top Betting Tips

This pretty much has Luton to win to nil written all over it. The head to head record points towards than and so is the current form. Chesterfield can’t keep the ball out of their own net and Luton have done enough at home this season to warrant backing for a comfortable win again at Kenilworth Road.
