Lincoln are up in League Two after a successful run in the National League last season where they were imperious on their run to the title, collecting 99 points. They also put together that fantastic FA Cup run let’s not forget. The Imps opened with a share of the spoils against Wycombe last weekend and that was an away game so not a bad return from them having gone up a tier. As for Morecambe they had a pretty miserable season in League last term finishing down in eighteenth place.
They managed to collect three points for themselves last weekend though in their opener as they took out Cheltenham. Will they be able to take their chances out on the road against the newly promoted Lincoln? The Shrimps did have a better season way from home than at the Globe Arena last season, but will they have their backers going into this one? Morecambe are the heavily priced 9/2 underdogs at Paddy Power for this one, with the Imps going as 4/7 odds on.
Lincoln Form
The Imps almost bagged themselves 100 points in last season’s National League campaign. Naturally, things are going to be tougher up a tier but they held their own in a 2-2 draw with Wycombe last weekend and they were 2-1 up in the game before being pegged back. So they posted such an impressive W17 D4 L2 record at Sincil Bank last season and they will cause some problems to their League Two opponents who visit there this season.
Morecambe Form
The Shrimps had a poor time of things on home soil last season in League Two and they earned more wins out on the road with a W8 D6 L9 record. They only won one of their last eight away games last season though (W1 D2 L5) so they won’t totally be trusted in this one at all. They conceded an average of 1.5 goals per game on the road last season.
Head to Head News
The last time Lincoln and Morecambe were together was in the 2010/11 League Two seasons and the Imps won both of those meetings. There have only been the ten games between them before and from that in all competitions, Lincoln holds a W5 D3 L2 record. They hold a W3 D2 L1 home record against the Shrimps. Both teams have scored in all but two of the ten previous meetings between them.
Top Betting Tips
Well worth a flutter on both teams to score in this one at a price of 10/11 with William Hill. Nothing wrong with that. Lincoln may very well hold their own this season in the division and they have the scoring power to take down a Morecambe side who conceded over seventy goals in last season’s League Two campaign. Lincoln look good for the win and if you want more value throw in Both Teams To Score as well.
