The 2017/18 La Liga season is well under way and this week sees the fifth round of fixtures. There are three matches to enjoy on Thursday night in Spain and final match to kick-off will be the exciting match between Levante and Real Sociedad. Levante were relegated to the Segunda Division in 2015/16 and finished bottom of the table. However, they bounced back immediately and won promotion last season. Many onlookers were expecting them to struggle again this season but they start this match in 9th place in the league table. Real Sociedad start this match in 4th place in La Liga and although it is only early days, they currently occupy a Champions League qualifying place.
Levante Form
Levante have started the season strongly and have gone 4 games unbeaten in La Liga. They started the campaign with a good 1-0 home win over Villarreal and followed that with a 2-2 draw at home to Deportivo La Coruna. Levante then travelled to the home of the Champions, Real Madrid and come away with a shock 1-1 draw, which was a great result. On Saturday, they picked up another point in a 1-1 home draw against Valencia, making it three draws in a row in the league. Including games from the end of the 2015/16 season, Levante are unbeaten in their last 8 La Liga fixtures and look like being a tough team to beat.
Real Sociedad Form
Prior to last weekend’s fixtures, Real Sociedad were enjoying a 100% record in La Liga this season. All their first 3 matches ended in victory, one of which was at home against Villarreal and the other two away at Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruna. On Sunday night, Real Sociedad lost their first match of the season, going down 3-1 at home to Real Madrid. Real Sociedad have scored 7 goals in their two away games this season, making them a threat going forward but have also conceded 4 goals in those two matches, making them an exciting team to watch on the road.
Team News
Levante will be without the injured trio of Roger Marti, Ivan Lopez and Jefferson Lerma. Joss Luis Morales has returned from suspension and is expected to take his place on the left side of the attack in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Real Sociedad are still without the injured duo of Raul Navas and Carlos Martinez. There are also doubts over the fitness of Inigo Martinez and Mikel Oyarzabal but leading scorer Juanmi should be fit to start in attack.
