We are set for a great clash between Leicester and Chelsea this weekend in a game that put together the previous two Premier League winners. Chelsea began with a shock defeat at home to Burnley, but since that they have won two games, while Leicester have played well but only picked up three points.
Chelsea will be looking to continue their winning streak with a win here as they look to defend their Premier League title. Leicester on the other hand will be desperate for points because they haven’t really got the total they should have right now. They have played two top teams, both Arsenal and Manchester United and they will be glad to get this tough start behind them.
Leicester Form
Considering Leicester have had an extremely tough start, they will be very happy with how they have played. They looked very good against Brighton, beating them 2-0 and played even better than they in their 4-3 defeat at Arsenal on the opening day. It seems strange saying that a team have played really well, despite only having three points from three games, but the signs are there for Leicester and they will pick up more points soon.
One thing that Leicester failed to do last season in their disappointing campaign was make themselves a difficult team to beat at home. That is something they must improve on this season and the signs were good against Brighton. Playing Chelsea is obviously a huge step up from Brighton, but Leicester should approach this game with confidence after the way they have started.
Chelsea Form
We were all shocked on the opening day when Chelsea were beaten by Burnley, showing ill-discipline to end the game with 9 men. They have been a lot better since that defeat, beating Tottenham at Wembley and Everton at Stamford Bridge. The way they have performed since, it seems the Burnley results was just a small slip up and this Chelsea team is as good as what they were last season.
I expect the race for the Premier League title to be tougher than last season and games like this one, away against a good team are going to be the games that separate the winners from the rest. I don’t think many teams will go to Leicester and take home three points, it is a very tough place to play, but champions win games like this.
Team News
When Leicester played poorly for most of last season, one player who also struggled was Jamie Vardy. The season before we saw Vardy at his best when Leicester won the league and the good news for Leicester is that Vardy looks back to his best this season. He has been fantastic in the opening weeks and has the aim of playing at the World Cup 2018 to drive him on so I am really expecting big things from him.
Much has been said about the Chelsea striking issues too, although Alvaro Morata is another player to start the season well and he looks to already be a great fit in this Chelsea team. Morata has scored twice from his three appearances so for as he looks to replace the goals scored by Diego Costa last season. It is only early, but Morata looks to be a good replacement and I can only see him getting better with more Premier League games under his belt.
Top Betting Tips
I think this game has the potential to be a great game to watch, both teams will be looking to win the game and they have the striking options to do that. Chelsea are the better team for me, but Leicester have started well and they will not want to give anything away on home soil, and because of this I think the two sides may cancel each other out.
I am going to back the draw in this game, although I am sure it will be a very entertaining draw and one that the fans will enjoy watching. The draw can be backed at 29/10 with Ladbrokes, which offers the best value in my opinion. I am expecting to see a lot of attacking play, and I think both teams will have many chances to score, but ultimately I can see the game ending in a draw. In what is another great game scheduled for Saturday in the Premier League, I am backing Leicester and Chelsea to draw in what should be an entertaining game.
