Grimsby dug out a point at home in midweek against Colchester and the Mariners will have been a little disappointed not to have picked up three points against a side beneath them in the table. Especially as they now take on the side immediately above them in the table on Saturday. Lincoln are just two points better off than Grimsby in the standings and they got over their mini-slump on Tuesday night with a win over Barnet. Lincoln go as favourites at 11/10 with Netbet to pick up three away points here, with Grimsby at 5/2.
Grimsby Form
Well, the Mariners didn’t lose in midweek that’s about all that they can take away from their 2-2 draw with Colchester. They needed an 89th-minute equaliser to avoid defeat though. They surprisingly struggled in that because they had won their two previous home games this season. That leaves them at W2 D1 L2 for the season at Blundell Park. There has still only been the one clean sheet for them this term and they have conceded more goals on average than they have scored at home this season. Their defence, or lack thereof, is a bit of concern.
Lincoln Form
Lincoln snapped their back to back losing streak with a win at home against Barnet on Tuesday night. They needed that and suddenly a W4 D1 L2 record in their last seven league games doesn’t look too bad at all. Lincoln are much more efficient at the back than the Mainers are and that will keep the Imps in this game. Away from home this season they have posted a W2 D1 L2 record but the wins have both come in their last three out on the road. Lincoln have yet to be leading at half time in an away game this season and in fact, have been losing at half time in all but one of their away games.
Head to Head News
In the last four between these at Blundell Park, things are even with one win each and two draws. The last time that these were together was in the 2015/16 National League and Grimsby collected four points from those two games, winning at home 2-0. The last time they meet in League two was back in the 2009/10 season and they played out two draws that season. Grimsby are 48-30 up in the overall head to head in all competitions, with 31 drawn matches.

Just because Grimsby are pretty sloppy at the back there has to be a bit of value in backing the Imps to go to Blundell Park and collect a victory. They win over Barnet will have done their confidence the world of good in midweek and if Grimsby can’t beat a struggling Colchester at home, you have to side with Lincoln.
