Betting Tip: England vs Brazil

Following Friday’s match against Germany at Wembley Stadium, England host another of the worlds leading teams on Tuesday in the shape of Brazil. When England announced these fixtures, I’m sure Gareth Southgate would have been planning to test his ideal World Cup starting XI against two great teams, but injuries have meant that has not been the case. Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Raheem Sterling and Phil Jones all expected to miss the game against Brazil and it will be another experimental side which Southgate sends on to the Wembley pitch.

England

Gareth Southgate named an experimental side against Germany on Friday night including youngsters Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the start. Liverpool defender Joe Gomez also came on to make his debut as England turned in an assured performance on the way to a 0-0 draw. Jordan Pickford and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were the main men to impress in the match and surely Pickford is now starting to put pressure on Joe Hart as the number one goalkeeper for the Three Lions. Jack Cork could well be in line for a start on Tuesday, whilst there are also rumours that Dominic Solanke may be called into the squad for the game.

Brazil

Brazil picked up a comfortable 3-1 win over Japan in their most recent game with Willian captaining the side on that day. Superstars Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Phillipe Coutinho could all be in line for starts at Wembley on Tuesday and there are likely to be a whole host of household names in the team, with six of the Brazil squad currently plying their trade in the Premier League.

Our Prediction

Brazil hold an 11 – 4 advantage over England in terms of wins and you would certainly expect the Selecao to pose a bigger threat than Germany did on Friday night. The Germans played a similarly experimental side to England in what was a relatively low key affair, but Neymar and Gabriel Jesus will give the England backline more problems on Tuesday night. I’m backing Brazil to win this one, but hopefully it will be an exciting game and England can offer more going forward than they did against the Germans.

Our Top Betting Tips (Ladbrokes)

Brazil start this game as 7/10 favourites and when you look at the two squad lists, it is easy to understand why. England, meanwhile, are 15/4 to pick up the win, with the draw available at 11/4. I’m not sure how much value there is on that 7/10 and a better bet could certainly be Brazil to win and BTTS – YES at 2/1. I think the Brazilians will give up a few chances in the game and with Jamie Vardy looking in decent form recently, he could well fancy his chances of finding the back of the net.
