There has been little to suggest that the Spireites are actually going to get themselves safe this season. They took a hammering at Accrington on the weekend to remain firmly rooted in the bottom two. Now they have to try and deal with the visit of league leaders Luton who are storming their way to automatic promotion and who have been full of goals this season.

Chesterfield Form
When you are sat second from bottom of the league it generally doesn’t say much about any positive form. The Spireites don’t have any with just the one point collected in their last six league games and a huge part of their downfall there has been a lack of ability to score goals. They have scored just one goal in that run of six games. It’s poor but looking at things for them on home soil, it’s not bad. They are W3 D1 L1 in their last five league games on home soil, so maybe their big downfall has been through their heavy workload away from home? That’s not entirely it as they have failed to score now in their last two at home and overall have failed to score in almost 40% of their home fixtures this term. With one clean sheet in their last nine, they are going to be at risk here.
Luton Form
The Hatters continue to go strong and they landed a good home win over Lincoln on January 1st to make it W7 D1 L1 in their last nine league games. It’s impressive stuff. They did slip in their last away game though, a surprising 4-0 loss out at her struggling Port Vale, but that looks just to be a rare bad day at the office as Luton are W6 D5 L2 for the season on their travels and they are W3 D1 in their last four road games. They have enviable scoring power and Luton have netted at least two goals in eight of their last ten league fixtures and have taken thee clean sheets in their last five. It may not be a bad option to consider them winning to nil in this one against a relegation-threatened side who aren’t scoring.
Head to Head News
Luton collected a 1-0 home win over Chesterfield back in September and they are unbeaten in their last six games against the Spireites in all competitions. The Hatters are unbeaten in their last two visits to Chesterfield as well. This is only the fourth League Two meeting between the two Clubs and Luton are W1 D2 from those previous three and are yet to concede a goal against Chesterfield.
Chesterfield v Luton – Betting Odds and Predictions
The Hatters are 9/2 to get the win, with the Chesterfield a big 17/4 quote to get the home points.
Top Betting Tip Chesterfield v Luton
Luton to win to nil should have plenty of appeal to punters here. The Hatters are strong and should be able to pick off the home side with a clean sheet. After Accrington stuffed Chesterfield last weekend, this should be easy pickings for the visitors, they are at 9/2 with Coral.
