Chesterfield’s hapless season continues on and they lost a five-goal thriller at home against Yeovil on Tuesday to go winless in six games. They just aren’t getting the rub of the green at the moment and their defence is still taking a severe hamming. Cheltenham deserves some credit for the way that they have pulled themselves out of the bottom pile with seven points from their three games and they will be feeling confident as 11/8 shots to go and take an away win against the risky 19/10 priced Spireites.

Chesterfield Form
Two points from their last seven games in League Two is all that the Spireites have collected. That’s poor and the reason why they are stuck in the bottom two. At home, their form reads W1 D1 L3 this season and they have taken only one point from their last three, suffering back to back home defeats there, both by a one-goal margin only. It is just their defence, the second worst in the league which makes them so vulnerable. No matter how much they do going forward, they look as if they will just fall apart at the back.
Cheltenham Form
Out of nowhere after picking up one point in five games, the Robins have taken seven in their last three. A huge turnaround from them then but the two wins in that sequence did come at home. They have yet to win out on the road this season but this is as good as a chance of any. They have drawn two of their last three out on the road and they have conceded just two goals in their last three road games, which included tough trips to Newport and Accrington.
Head to Head News
Chesterfield are on a four-match winning streak at home against Cheltenham and that is all of their previous League Two home fixtures against the Robins. Overall home and away they have won seven of the eight previous League Two games against Cheltenham, including last season’s two. The Spireites have scored three or more goals in four of their last six against the Robins.
Top Betting Tips
Still, even with the head to head form in favour of the home side, Cheltenham have to be value to go to the Proact Stadium and collect a point. That wouldn’t be unreasonable given their recent form and the fact that Chesterfield’s defence is unlikely to go out and post a clean sheet.
