It is early in the new season of course, but already there have been signs from Cheltenham that they are going to be struggling to hold their own in the division this season. The Robins have lost two of their three games this season and are really struggling to make an impact going forward. They aren’t having opposition defences quivering in their boots that’s for sure. Exeter have started the new season with a bang collecting seven points from their three games and they will be heading off to Whaddon Road as favourites to collect themselves the three points. Exter are 7/5 to win this one at 10bet, with the Robins at 19/10.
Cheltenham Form
The fact that Cheltenham had a midweek game in the EFL Cup against West Ham won’t have particularly helped their cause in this one. The Robins have a W1 L2 record so far this season in League Two and their only success was a home victory over bottom side Crawley. That was only a narrow 1-0 victory as well. Cheltenham have netted just the two league goals in their three games so far so there are clear problems for them. Last season they struggled to stay afloat and that same pattern looks set to continue here.
Exeter Form
There are no problems with the form of Exeter who have gone W2 D1 so far in their three league games. The draw there was against current leaders Swindon as well, so they have done very well. Their two victories though have both been by a 1-0 scoreline this season so they have been banking on the defence a lot to get them through. But that away draw at Swindon has to be a good indicator that they can go to Whaddon Road and at the very least avoid defeat there. Reuben Reid has scored two of their three goals this season and netted two in their last victory over the Robins.
Head to Head News
Exeter won both meetings with the Robins last season and they are on a four match winning streak against them and are unbeaten in five. So they have the big form going over them and each of the last three meetings have gone over 2.5 goals but the form of both of these wouldn’t necessarily suggest that this is going to be happening in this one. The last two between them at Whaddon Road have seen both teams score and a victory for the away side.
Top Betting Tips
An Exeter 1-0 correct score at Paddy Power is a great 17/2 shot here. Cheltenham don’t look as if they have the firepower to hurt teams and Exeter’s defence has already proven itself this season and the Grecians have good winning form over the Gloucestershire club too. Away win.
