Betting Tip: Carlisle v Notts County

Carlisle are still on the hunt for something very important and that is consistency. They are badly lacking that at the moment, and are hovering around in the bottom half of the table. At least there have been some wins there lately for them. Notts County suffered another away slip in midweek as they lost at Crewe and that saw them surrender top spot in League Two to Luton. Will County’s sloppy away form damage them in this one? Carlisle are going off as 6/4 favourites at Ladbrokes with County at 12/5 to pick up the win at Ladbrokes.

Carlisle Form

Carlile have managed to win three of their last six games played in League Two as part of a W3 D1 L2 record. They very nearly claimed a home win over the free-scoring Wycombe on Tuesday night until they were denied the win in stoppage time. That means that they are stuck on the one home victory for the season in a W1 D3 L3 record. That’s no win in five now at home for the Cumbrians. The 3-3 draw against Wycombe on Tuesday was a nice return to scoring form for them though. They needed that and it could breed confidence.

Notts County Form

Notts County have only managed a W1 D1 L2 record in their last four games now after having put together that great nine-match unbeaten streak (W8 D1) prior. It just shows that when momentum goes, it can be a tough thing to get back. County lost at Crewe in midweek, which made it back to back away defeats for them after having fallen at Mansfield. They haven’t been a high-scoring side away from home and that’s just six goals in their last five road games. Perhaps the more worrying thing is their defence is starting to concede after looking rock-solid. County are W4 L3 on the road now.

Head to Head News

These two have alternated wins in the last four meetings in Cumbria. Last season County took a 2-1 win there but lost at home against Carlisle earlier in the season. Each of the last five games between these two has seen at least three goals scored in them and the last six have all gone over the 2.5 goal line. Things are even with three wins each from the last six league meetings between the pair.

Top Betting Tips

Carlisle are not carrying the home form to pull off a win in this one, although they did have Wycombe rattled in midweek. Look instead for a draw in this one, because Notts County will probably be happy with just steadying the away ship in the away game.
